Abstract

A discussion of planning as a technique of soc action & as a directing principle in the development of a sociol of leisure. Among the factors to be considered in planning for leisure are: (1) the relation between objective & subjective needs of the individual, (2) `hedonistic needs,' (3) time places available, (4) decision making & action individually & socially, & (5) the diversity, `intensity', & `creativity' of human activity. The individual & the society both must be fairly represented in such planning. The problem is to determine the basis for choosing what soc & rational sci'fic values will be utilized. P. D. Montagna.
