Abstract
In summer 2013, the Working Group was established 'Social Movements in Africa', an informal grouping of researchers from different disciplines that deal with social movements on the African continent. We communicate via a mailing list and organize at regular intervals discussions and meetings. Among other things, we deal with the question of whether the approaches of the movement research, primarily in the context of social struggles in the so-called Global North (ie Europe and North America) have emerged for the study of empirical phenomena in the Global South is helpful. Below we present the results of our recent debates. Adapted from the source document
