Abstract
Situates the capacity of the French energy industry within the context of the European open market. As the European Commission is responsible for the development of the open market insofar as the correction of discrepancies between countries, individual states are left to devise ways to ensure a smooth transition of their position in the new market. It is suggested that in this respect France will have to act with ingenuity in order to reach new corners of the European market, & one of the principle factors that will translate to a successful transition is the gradually phased movement of the current system into the newly competitive market. Caution & progressive assessment of French energy initiatives is demonstrated here as the key to a successful positioning in the future competitive market. Adapted from the source document.
