Reinventing NGOs and Rethinking Alternatives in the Andes
In: The annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, Band 554, S. 117-135
Abstract
In the current Latin American economic & policy context, many nongovernmental organization (NGO) activities appear impractical or are simply obsolete, challenging NGOs in the Andes to rethink their roles in & ideas of viable forms of alternative development. In addition, their own institutional crises require them to rethink how they relate to other actors & finance themselves. Focus here is on how conceptions of alternative development might be refashioned & how NGOs are beginning to reinvent themselves to carry forward new notions of development alternatives. Implications for foreign aid are discussed. Adapted from the source document.
