Housing America's Elderly: A State-Level Policy Perspective

Abstract

The problem of housing for the elderly, given increased intensity by the recent elimination of federal rent subsidies, has been met by various proposals for expanded state level action. A case study is presented of the approach taken by the state of NJ. Nine policy goals are identified, & progress toward achieving each is assessed. The success of this program demonstrates that the states can take effective action toward improving housing available to the elderly. W. H. Stoddard.
