Abstract
The sociological importance of Luhmann's work was practically unknown in Spanish until very recently. His work regarding the evolution of society springs from the idea that evolution responds to the development of differentiation procedures. Modern societies function in a differentiated manner. The differentiation makes selection possible. The distinction in this complexity is impossible to embrace, if everything were connected within the system. Therefore, the system does not have the same dimensions as the surroundings & selection takes place. A social system emerges when communication develops further communication based on the initial one. Adapted from the source document.
