The Flaw Is in the Review and the Review Process
In: Public opinion quarterly: journal of the American Association for Public Opinion Research, Band 53, Heft 4, S. 606-608
Abstract
A critique of a poll review by Andrew A. Beveridge & Fredrica Rudell (see SA 37:1/89U1863), who argued that the 1985 report of the National Science Board on public attitudes toward science & technology is a flawed document. Here, it is shown that it is the Public Opinion Quarterly poll review process itself that is flawed. Beveridge & Rudell perceived a gap in the data collection series, which led them to make recommendations designed to improve the reliability & validity of future studies. These recommendations are critiqued. In Beveridge and Rudell Respond, Beveridge & Rudell stand by the points raised in their poll review. C. Grindle
