Abstract

The debate regarding international climate protection finds itself in a difficult phase after the 6th Treaty Conference in Nov 2000 at The Hague, particularly with respect to the Bush administration's attitude regarding the Kyoto Protocol. President Bush, by declaring to opt out of the protocol found himself in the crossfire of criticism especially by EU states. Even though, they have not yet ratified the protocol, they appeal urgently to the US to think over their position & to not endanger the Rio Protocol due to go into effect in 2002.
