Transition and Neoinstitutionalism: The Example of Croatia
In: Politicka misao, Band 30, Heft 2, S. 71-79
Abstract
The author examines the role of neoinstitutionalism in processes of transition in postsocialist countries, the renewal of a rather orthodox institutionalistic approach to problems of political & social transformation. For many structural reasons, this approach does not produce the results expected. This is proved in the example of the implementation of Western political institutions in Croatia since 1990. The author primarily addresses the relationship between the electoral, party, & parliamentary systems, especially the influence of the electoral system on the electoral & legislative party system, & on the government. She gives structural & institutional reasons for the "deviations" observed. 2 Tables, 10 References. Adapted from the source document.
