Abstract
Street children are a part of everyday life in Central Asia, above all in the big cities of Kyrgyzstan. They eke out a living doing temporary jobs, begging & stealing & often even support their parents as well. Many of the children prefer their independence to life in an orphanage. The state responds to the street children primarily with repression. Adapted from the source document.
