Abstract
With about 2 trillion dollars in foreign currency reserves, the financial crisis has enhanced China's importance in the world economy. Some people have postulated that the role of the US in the global economy is declining, with its position as a world leader being replaced by China; but this article concludes that China has neither the ambition nor the capability to challenge the leadership of the US.
