Abstract
An examination of the impact of economic reforms on the configuration of class processes in the People's Republic of China, in particular, the growth in self-employment. Speculations are offered on the role of the reforms in recent political upheavals, & on the potential impact of the growth in self-employment on the publicly stated socialist goals of the Chinese Communist party. 58 References.
