Abstract
The concept of sacrifice is used as a lens through which to view moments of history & the contemporary political arena. It is argued that politics is intimately involved in sacrifice: it is the art of curing by sacrifice. In establishing consensus, victims are symbolically sacrificed. Politics maintains the realm of the sacred in order to conquer power. Adapted from the source document.
