Abstract

In a crisis of paradigms, globalization seems to be the new social construct that orients social organization phenomena. Global & globalization are the new categories of analysis that, although related to economics, have been used to understand other social manifestations as well. Explored here are methodological considerations that should be taken into account in using globalization as a working macrocategory, as well as the consequences of globalization & its relationship with mass communication phenomena. Also addressed are new forms of social relations produced in global conditions & the role of the mass media in the construction of social identities, ie, global, national, & cultural identities. 14 References.
