PANTA RHEI REGIO steht für einen modellgestützten Dialog zur Siedlungs- und Verkehrsflächenentwicklung und Folgenabschätzung fiskalischer Maßnahmen auf nationaler und regionaler Ebene. Im Rahmen der Förderinitiative REFINA, 'Forschung für die Reduzierung der Flächeninanspruchnahme und ein nachhaltiges Flächenmanagement', wird das Projekt PANTA RHEI REGIO der GWS mbH vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung gefördert. Das wesentliche Ziel der Projektarbeit bis Anfang 2009 ist die Regionalisierung des gesamtdeutschen Modells PANTA RHEI, mit dessen Hilfe bereits unterschiedliche umweltpolitische Fragestellungen unter Berücksichtigung des langfristigen Strukturwandels und umweltökonomischen Interdependenzen bearbeitet wurden.

"Policy simulations for national economies with econometric models in general are done using a stand alone national model with exogenous export values and import prices. In a globalised world such an exercise is critical, since the policy in question may change the export prices and the import volumes of the particular country and induce via international trade a change of the economic activities of the global economy and a feed back to the export values and import prices of the particular country. The paper at hand presents a sensitivity analysis for Germany comparing the impacts of a shock on investment in a stand alone simulation using the multisector model INFORGE with the results, which occur, if the same model is linked to the global multicountry/multisector model GINFORS endogenising Germany's export values and import prices. The results are striking: The effect on real GDP is 50Prozent higher in the global simulation than in the stand alone case. Because of the specialisation in trade the differences on the sector level are even stronger." (author's abstract)
How to deal with differences based on culture, ethnicity and race, has become a key issue of policing. This edited collected explores everyday, often mundane interactions between police officers and migrantised actors in European countries and asks how both sides deal with perceived differences. The contributions reflect that such differences are not just 'out there' but are being situationally (re-)produced in police-citizen encounters. By taking a comparative approach, the book develops a distinctly European perspective on these questions. Glycosylation is a topic of intense current interest in the development of biopharmaceuticals because it is related to drug safety and efficacy. This work describes results of an interlaboratory study on the glycosylation of the Primary Sample (PS) of NISTmAb, a monoclonal antibody reference material. Seventy-six laboratories from industry, university, research, government, and hospital sectors in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia submitted a total of 103 reports on glycan distributions. The principal objective of this study was to report and compare results for the full range of analytical methods presently used in the glycosylation analysis of mAbs. Therefore, participation was unrestricted, with laboratories choosing their own measurement techniques. Protein glycosylation was determined in various ways, including at the level of intact mAb, protein fragments, glycopeptides, or released glycans, using a wide variety of methods for derivatization, separation, identification, and quantification. Consequently, the diversity of results was enormous, with the number of glycan compositions identified by each laboratory ranging from 4 to 48. In total, one hundred sixteen glycan compositions were reported, of which 57 compositions could be assigned consensus abundance values. These consensus medians provide community-derived values for NISTmAb PS. Agreement with the consensus medians did not depend on the specific method or laboratory type. The study provides a view of the current state-of-the-art for biologic glycosylation measurement and suggests a clear need for harmonization of glycosylation analysis methods.
