International politics in Astrid Lindgren's works
Before discussing international politics in Lindgren's works, it is necessary to take a quick look at some tendencies in their translatory reception with an update for this year, as many non-Scandinavian readers might not be aware how their interpretation of Lindgren may have been coloured by target text adaptations which are not to be found in Lindgren's Swedish source text.

Celebrity Politics: Prominenz als politische Ressource
In: Politische Vierteljahresschrift: PVS : German political science quarterly, Heft 44, S. 355-374
ISSN: 0032-3470
Civil Society and Marxist Politics
In: Socialism and democracy: the bulletin of the Research Group on Socialism and Democracy, Band 12, Heft 1-2, S. 15-46
ISSN: 0885-4300
Challenges post-Soviet attacks on Marxist theory, focusing on Karl Marx's notion of civil society, particularly in terms of his expansion of G. W. F. Hegel. Marx grounded Hegel's notion of the individual's moral needs existing in the context of market forces in industrial production. Further, Marx claims that the state is shaped by civil society as opposed to transcending it as Hegel suggested. However, Marx also maintained that the proletariat would abolish civil society to achieve human emancipation; civil society would be democratized & used against the market forces that constitute its base. The dissolution of the base would dissolve the existing power structure, resulting in the well-recognized contradiction of Marxist theory. Nevertheless, it is suggested that Marxist ideas are salient in the modern world where capital accumulates & public life deteriorates. The Left needs to concern itself once again with the extension of democracy into civil society. T. Noland
THE POLITICS OF THE MILLENNIUM
In: Terrorism and political violence, Band 7, Heft 3, S. 164-177
ISSN: 0954-6553
THERE ARE THREE BROAD TYPES OF POLITICS--MONISM, DUALISM, AND PLURALISM. MILLENARIAN MOVEMENTS ARE MONISTIC IN THEIR VIEW OF THE FUTURE BUT DUALISTIC IN THEIR VIEW OF THE PRESENT. IF, AS MOST POLITICAL SCIENTISTS HOLD, COMPLEX SOCIETIES ARE INHERENTLY PLURALISTIC, MILLENARIAN PR\OJECTS ARE BOUND TO BE INFEASIBLE OR TO RESULT IN HIGH LEVELS OF FORCE IN AN EFFORT TO TRANSFORM REALITY.
The politics of program evaluation
In: New directions for program evaluation: a quarterly sourcebook, Band 1987, Heft 34, S. 5-21
ISSN: 1534-875X
AbstractEvaluation must take into account both executive and legislative politics and their interactions. This implies an evaluation process that can be represented as a five‐part continuum, and requires numerous departures from past thinking about evaluation. The evaluator must assume a major share of the responsibility for translating policy questions into knowledge that is credible, timely, responsive, and usable.
