Faced with an increasingly tight resource supply, serious environmental pollution and degrading ecosystems, human beings are eager to reduce environmental pollution and promote public health. In this context, this paper takes the ecological civilization demonstration area (ECDA) established in China as a quasi-natural experiment to test whether ecological civilization construction (ECC) is an effective solution for the reduction of environmental pollution and improvement of public health. Based on the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2009 to 2020, the study analyzes the impact of ECC on environmental quality and public health by employing a difference-in-difference model. The results show that ECDA has restrained environmental pollution and reduced the morbidity and mortality, which indicates that ECC effectively promotes environmental quality and public health. The effect of ECC is more pronounced in economically developed regions. In addition, ECC improves environmental quality through scale effects, structural effects, technology effects, and ecological conservation effects, while the positive effects of ECC on public health are driven by scale effects and ecological conservation effects only. Therefore, policymakers should support low-carbon production, promote the upgrade of industrial structures, and encourage enterprises to develop green technologies. Ecological protection projects such as afforestation and greening are necessary. Governments should initiate ecological civilization construction in economically developed regions and then gradually promote the policies in relatively poor areas.

International audience ; To what extend books and reading can be included in the project of the "asymmetrical civilization"? The point is, that the book by nature is politically active, because of the fact that along with many other functions the reforming function is inherent to the book. Often it has invisible, but definite role in the personal, public and global projects. In global aspect it turned out that reading will present the overall surprises.

The clash-of-civilizations thesis asserts that differences between civilizations increase the likelihood of escalation of conflicts and that since the end of the cold war, fault lines between civilizations are becoming the sites of the most intense conflicts. The author tests the tenability of this claim concerning domestic ethnopolitical conflicts. Statistical tests employ logit analysis to analyze 1,036 ethnopolitical dyads (linking 130 governments and 631 ethnic groups) from 1980 to 1999. The results strongly support the claim of the clash-of-civilizations thesis that in the first post-cold war decade (1990 to 1999), contacts between civilizations within states were more likely than were contacts that do not cross linguistic or religious lines to escalate to more intense conflicts. Yet, the apparent increase in conflict between civilizations in the 1990s was part of an escalation in all types of cross-cultural conflict that does not in itself portend continued escalation in the clash of civilizations.

Выделены триггеры, стратегии и технологии, запускающие у человека процессы кардинального изменения его мироощущения и миропонимания. Социально-психологический ракурс исследования позволяет по-новому взглянуть на природу и сущность современного варварства. Показаны возможные формы прогнозирования социального поведения человека в контексте появления и преодоления агрессивных злонамеренных действий.
The article is devoted to the analysis based on mass media publications and internet blogs of an individual's cognitive map transformation in modern realities. General directions and risks of information field destructive impacts on an individual are shown. As new civilization of XXI century establishes, information field gives a boost to a process of giving special metaphysical meaning to modern barbarity, which destructs permissible social norms common to an any civilization. Triggers, strategies, and technologies, starting fundamental changing processes in world perception and mentality of an individual are summarized. Social and psychological view of the article lets take a fresh look at an essence and nature of modern barbarity. Possible forms of conceptual foresight of individual's social behavior are shown in context of materialization and overriding of aggressive and ill-destined moves.

It is suggested that the absence of war in Western civilization since WWII may not be due to nuclear deterrence, but to structural factors responsible for peace. Measured in several ways, the present period looks as though it may be the most peaceful one in the past quarter millennium, probably the most peaceful in modern Western history. The factors behind this peace may reflect long-term fluctuations that produce alternate crises & "ages," & a particular way of seeing that is as characteristic of the present period as "Victorian" was for the period between the Congress of Vienna & WWII. If that is the case, short-term pressures for arms reduction should be expected, though there are long-term factors that could increase tension & danger several decades hence. 5 Tables, 2 Figures, 30 References. The periodic nature of societal development, as viewed through the lens of technological progress in civilization, points to a distinct trend: the issues that arose from the environment in the sphere of security thirty years ago do not align with the formula that has emerged in the 21st century. In this article the author delves into an analysis of the safety genome of contemporary civilization, along with the repercussions of society's transformation under the influence of the digital world. Several phenomena are highlighted, stemming from a reluctance and/or inefficient handling of information, the challenge of discerning truth from falsehood, thus resulting in a diminished inclination towards rational thinking. Particular attention is dedicated to the way in which individuals independently (often unknowingly) expose themselves to risk through their interaction with devices. Drawing upon 25 years of practical experience and ongoing scientific research in the field of integrated security, the author has developed and tested numerous methods and technologies aimed at addressing issues in the sphere of business safety. Nonetheless, present realities define new directions for applied research. Primarily due to rapid technological advancement, the physical environment is increasingly merging with the digital landscape. Consequently, this pattern necessitates fresh approaches to system security that align with the requisites and parameters of the 21st century. The objective of this article is to elucidate, using concrete examples, the origins and nature of intellectual, psychological, and technological impediments that hinder effective operation within an information-driven environment and the accurate discernment of truth from falsehood.
