This book contributes to current debates on the relationship between architecture and the social sciences, highlighting current interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching as well as research and practice in architecture and urbanism. It also raises awareness about the complementarities and tensions between the spaces of the project, including the construction spaces and living space. It gives voice to recent projects and socio-territorial interventions, focusing on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches between society and space. Divided into two parts, the first part discusses the possible dialogue between social sciences and architecture, while the second part explores architecture, politics and social change in urban territories from a European perspective

This research is based on a catalogue of portals which have been built following the models printed in the Extraordinary book by Sebastiano Serlio and in other books of his treatise. The analysis of these often anonymous creations shows us how these models have been filtered by the expertise typical of the area where they've been built and its customs. We chose these models because, during the Renaissance, the treatise by Sebastiano Serlio, Bolognese architect and theorist, constitutes one of the most important editorial initiatives in matter of architecture. Thanks to his experiences in Bologna, his hometown, in Rome, in Venice and at the court of François I since 1541, Serlio gets skilled in composing ancient models and Italian Renaissance models with local traditions. In his Book IV, the author presents the five architectonic orders in a systematic and intelligible way : each drawing has a legend explaining measures and sizes, showing a balanced relation between text and image. The Extraordinary book, which was later added to Serlio's program, is dedicated to portals. The decorative language of these imaginative inventions proves a bigger freedom in relation to Vitruvio's rules. This work tries to illustrate certain migrations of Serlio's prototypes through the study of portals built basing on his treatise. In order to analyze such assimilations, we propose a comparison of examples from France, Germany and Italy. International audience ; Health has recently drawn an increasing amount of attention and has become a central point of consideration both in the political arena and in the world of research. In particular, there is a growing interest in a number of diseases or medical conditions, such as overweight, respiratory problems and stress related conditions that are partly correlated to the urban environmental features of developed countries. Based on these considerations, our research aims to analyse three of the ten pilot projects proposed as part of the National Health Service's " Healthy News Towns " program. Our hypothesis is that major architectural and urban developments use health-related factors as a driving force and as marketing arguments. We aim to study the material produced to promote these projects (brochures, gazettes, websites) through a detailed graphical analysis, using specific tools of design-based disciplines such as architecture and urban design. ; En ce début de XXIe siècle, la santé fait son grand retour, tant sur la scène politique que dans le monde de la recherche où se multiplient les travaux qui mettent en évidence un certain nombre d'inquiétudes, notamment liées au surpoids, aux problèmes respiratoires ou encore au stress dont les causes sont en partie attribuées aux caractéristiques de l'environnement bâti dans les pays développés. Notre recherche repose sur l'analyse d'un corpus de trois parmi les dix projets sélectionnés dans le cadre du programme Healthy News Towns du National Health Service britannique. Notre hypothèse consiste à postuler qu'à travers ces importants projets architecturaux et urbains se dessine une nouvelle tendance consistant à mobiliser la santé comme argument de vente de nouveaux logements. Nous proposons de décrypter les différents supports de communication produits par les promoteurs (plaquettes imprimées, « gazettes », sites internet) au travers d'une analyse graphique, grâce aux outils propres aux disciplines de projet que sont l'architecture et l'urbanisme.

Although working with digital data and methods can enlarge qualitative social research, it has not yet opened up much in this direction. In order to facilitate such a move, existing tools from computer and data science can be used, but have to be adapted to the specific needs of qualitative research. It is pivotal to critically analyze not only the digital data, but also the corresponding methods and to reflect on them with regard to research perspectives, in order to continually sound out the limits and possibilities for qualitative social research. In this article, I carve out the contexts of digital humanities and computational social sciences. With an example study following the sociology of knowledge approach to discourse that was realized using a range of digital methods, I model the qualitative research process and show which steps can be digitally enlarged. I then discuss central challenges and derive potentials and possible further developments for digital data and methods. The article is a basis for establishing a creative integration of new digital elements within qualitative research processes. With this, I shed light on the transformation of research questions, fields, methods and epistemologies.

Abstract
Although the research funding policy has promoted the output and effect of research, whether it can identify innovative research topics and promote discipline development is worth investigating in depth. Taking Chinese humanities and social sciences (HSS) as an example, this study uses the latent Dirichlet allocation topic model to identify the topics of the HSS projects and papers funded by China's national research funds. The analysis reveals the effect of research funding policy on research topics in both topic selection and funding intensity: (1) the types of projects with strict restrictions on topics significantly guide the direction of research topics; (2) projects with less funding are more likely to result in emerging topic research; and (3) compared with social sciences and key universities, the funded projects of humanities and other institutions are more likely to focus on emerging topics.
