The uses of violence in the filmography of the Mexican Amat Escalante are analyzed from specific parallaxes. By resorting to the term 'uses' we refer to two questions in particular: with what objectives and in what aesthetic-visual way does the director use these representations of violence. To do this, we delve into his four feature films released so far: Blood [Sangre] (2005), The bastards [Los bastardos] (2008), Heli (2013) and The wild region [La región salvaje] (2016). According to what is stated by Slavoj Žižek in the book On violence. Six marginal reflections, we propose that Escalante makes use of violence on the screen in three senses: narrative, aesthetic and poetic (the latter, referring to the political-affective relationship that occurs between the films and their viewers). ; Se analizan, desde paralajes específicos, los usos de la violencia en la filmografía del mexicano Amat Escalante. Al recurrir al término 'usos' nos referimos a dos preguntas en particular: con qué objetivos y de qué manera estético-visual utiliza el director estas representaciones de lo violento. Para ello, profundizamos en sus cuatro largometrajes hasta ahora estrenados: Sangre (2005), Los bastardos (2008), Heli (2013) y La región salvaje (2016). De acuerdo con lo expuesto por Slavoj Žižek en el libro Sobre la violencia. Seis reflexiones marginales, planteamos que Escalante hace uso de la violencia en pantalla en tres sentidos: narrativo, estético y poético (éste último, referido a la relación político-afectiva que se da entre las cintas y sus espectadores).

The history of the Shaw enterprise in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore, is a history of Chinese cinema in a century of business evolution. The Shaw industrial model of "vertical integration", which combines production, distribution with exhibition, keeps pace with the technological developments and manages to expand its retail outlets from the stage to cinema, television, DVD and the Internet. Although the Shaw organization embraces a western industrial model to expand its business, it retains the very nature of a traditional Chinese family business. The issues surrounding the cultural and institutional evolution of the Shaw enterprise over the past 80 years are profound indications of its time.

The article raise the question about models of cultural policy, about the relationship of this policy with the status of the state in the international arena; considers the special role of culture in strengthening Russian statehood. Russia has repeatedly demonstrated the fruitfulness of the state to care for culture. State investment in culture, education and science has always produced a qualitative leap in the development of the country, allowing for a short period of time to catch up and overtake other countries and survive in a competitive geopolitical struggle. The difficult political conditions of the present time dictate the need to return to traditional for our country state-centric model of governance and to state support for her culture. ; В статье ставится вопрос о моделях культурной политики, о связи этой политики со статусом государства на международной арене; рассматривается особая роль культуры в укреплении русской государственности. Россия неоднократно демонстрировала миру плодотворность государственной заботы о культуре. Вложение государственных средств в культуру, образование и науку всегда производило качественный скачок в развитии страны, позволяя за короткий промежуток времени догнать и перегнать другие страны и выстоять в конкурентной геополитической борьбе. Непростые политические условия настоящего времени диктуют необходимость возврата к традиционной для нашего отечества государственно-центричной модели управления страной и к государственной поддержке ее культуры.

The present study uses regression analysis of existing cross-national data sets to demonstrate that ingroup-outgroup discrimination and intergroup conflict management vary more along the north-south (latitudinal) axis than along the east-west axis of the Earth. Ingroup favoritism, outgroup rejection, political oppression, legal discrimination, and communication bullying are all less prevalent among Northerners than among Southerners in the Northern Hemisphere, but more prevalent among Northerners than among Southerners in the Southern Hemisphere. These findings provide a rich source for further research into how social conflicts are habitually experienced and handled by residents of northern versus southern habitats. A supplementary analysis specifies the extent to which ecological stressors-thermal stress, hydraulic stress, pathogenic stress, and subsistence stress-help explain why there are oppositely sloping north-south gradients of conflict culture above and below the equator. Taken in total, these results demonstrate the importance of considering latitude in forming a deeper understanding of conflict management and negotiation.
