The aim of this report is to compare the different methodologies applied in lists/databases of environmental unit costs for use in CBAs and environmental/sustainability reporting. The analysis is based on a core set of lists/databases from a scoping exercise performed by the German Environment Agency supplemented with other recent lists/publications that include relevant data for Germany. 15 unit costs lists and their supporting documents are compared methodologically across 6 main environmental topics: i) greenhouse gases, ii) Local/regional air pollutants (PM10 (including PM2.5), NOX, SO2, NH3, and NMVOC), iii) Eutrophication (N and P) , iv) Other local/regional water and soil pollutants, v) Traffic noise and vi) Land use changes affecting biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Die teils vor Jahrzehnten festgeschriebenen akustischen und flugbetrieblichen Daten der AzB können den Flugbetrieb in Deutschland nur noch bedingt abbilden. Um diesen Tatsachen Rechnung zu tragen, wurden die zivilen Luftfahrzeugklassen der AzB vollständig überarbeitet. Im Zuge dieser Überarbeitung wurde ein neues Gruppierungsschema für Luftfahrzeuge entwickelt und eine Anpassung der akustischen und flugbetrieblichen Daten vorgenommen. Das aktuelle Vorhaben wendet diese neue akustische Datengrundlage erstmals für realitätsnahe Verkehrsszenarien an. Ergebnis sind detaillierte graphische Darstellungen der berechneten Fluglärmsituation für verschiedene Szenarien einschließlich einer Differenzbetrachtung zwischen aktueller und überarbeiteter akustischer Datengrundlage.
In der im März 2022 veröffentlichten EU-Textilstrategie ist aufgeführt, dass Hersteller zukünftig die Verantwortung für ihre Produkte entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette wahrnehmen sollen. Vor diesem Hintergrund sollen EU-Vorschriften zur erweiterten Herstellerverantwortung bei Textilien harmonisiert und in der Novellierung der Abfallrahmenrichtlinie verankert werden. Im vorliegenden Forschungsvorhaben wurden vier mögliche Modelle der erweiterten Herstellerverantwortung (EPR-Modelle) beziehungsweise Produktverantwortung im Sinne des Kreislaufwirtschaftsgesetzes für Deutschland entwickelt und bewertet sowie eine Definition für Textilien und der mögliche Anwendungsbereich erarbeitet.
Trifluoracetat (TFA; CF3COO-) ist ein sehr persistenter und sehr mobiler Stoff, der sich in bestimmten Umweltkompartimenten anreichern kann. Mit herkömmlichen Wasseraufbereitungsmethoden ist TFA nicht zu entfernen. Daher stellt TFA eine Herausforderung für den Gewässerschutz im Allgemeinen und den Schutz von Trinkwasserressourcen im Speziellen dar. Obwohl nach bisherigem Kenntnisstand die akute Toxizität von TFA gering ist, sollten Einträge von TFA in Gewässer daher möglichst vermieden werden. Die Herkunft von TFA in der Umwelt ist seit langem ein kontrovers diskutiertes Thema: Der Nachweis von TFA in vorindustriellen Wasserproben in Studien, die Ende der 1990er bis Anfang der 2000er Jahre durchgeführt wurden, deutet darauf hin, dass TFA in geringem Umfang auch auf natürliche Weise entstehen kann. Bislang hat die Forschung jedoch keine ausreichenden wissenschaftlichen Beweise für diese Hypothese erbracht. Im Gegensatz dazu haben beispielsweise Eisbohrkerne aus der Arktis und archivierte Biota-Proben aus Deutschland bewiesen, dass zumindest die überwiegende Menge an TFA in der nicht-marinen Umwelt auf anthropogene Quellen zurückzuführen ist. Aufgrund der Vielzahl möglicher Quellen und Vorläufersubstanzen, zu denen häufig nur unzureichende Informationen vorliegen, ist es jedoch oft schwierig, TFA-Belastungen auf eine bestimmte Eintragsquelle zurückzuführen. In diesem Projekt wurden deutschlandweit TFA-Belastungen sowie deren Quellen räumlich und mengenmäßig analysiert, um so den Beitrag der verschiedenen, möglichen Eintragspfade abzuschätzen. Auf diese Weise wurde eine fachlich fundierte Basis für koordinierte, effektive und konsistente Minderungsmaßnahmen abgeleitet. Im Projektverlauf bestätigte sich, dass die Datenlage – sowohl die TFA-Belastungen als auch die TFA-Emissionen betreffend –mangelhaft ist, wodurch teilweise Unsicherheiten bei den Projektergebnissen nicht ausgeräumt werden können. Es kann davon ausgegangen werden, dass flächenhaft bedeutende Einträge vor allem durch die Anwendung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln und leichtflüchtigen TFA-Vorläufersubstanzen (z. B. Kältemittel) erfolgen, während Industriebetriebe teilweise lokal sehr hohe Belastungen verursachen. Minimierungsstrategien, die unter anderem im Rahmen eines Workshops diskutiert wurden, umfassen: Auftrag an Politik und Behörden, sich verstärkt für die Aufnahme von TFA und anderen sehrpersistenten und sehr mobilen Substanzen in rechtliche Regelwerke, sowohl auf nationalerwie auch auf EU-Ebene, einzusetzen – insbesondere, wenn diese Stoffe zudem noch toxischeEffekte beim Menschen oder Umweltorganismen bereits bei niedrigen Konzentrationen hervorrufen. Stärkung bestehender Ansätze zur Minimierung von Belastungen durch Pflanzenschutzmittel, wie z. B. der Fundaufklärung mit Unterstützung der Hersteller, Weiterführung und Ausweitung der Monitoringprogramme auf Länderebene, um Ursachenund Trends zu erkennen und ggf. konkrete Maßnahmen einleiten und überprüfen zu können. This study examines the usefulness and benefits of pollution-related information to be publicly reported by large European companies under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and its European Sustainability Reporting Standard (ESRS) E2 for environmental authorities. In particular, the study focuses on the interfaces between the new reporting requirements under ESRS E2 and the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) and the European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR). Four key issues regarding interoperability between these regulatory requirements were identified and discussed in an expert dialogue with representatives from environmental agencies and ministries from 18 countries. These comprise (1) usefulness of information on pollution-related policies, actions and targets, (2) the technicalities of emission data compilation and aggregation, (3) reporting formats and report location, and (4) assurance and verification of reported information. The discussions of the expert dialogue are summarised as a part of this study.

This book brings the stories of survivors and offenders alike to the forefront to help us understand why the criminal justice system is facing such an existential crisis. Benjamin Perrin draws on his expertise as a lawyer, former top criminal justice advisor to the prime minister, and law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada to investigate the criminal justice system itself. He critiques the system from a trauma-informed perspective, examining its treatment of victims of crime, Indigenous people and Black Canadians, people with substance use and mental health disorders, and people experiencing homelessness, poverty, and unemployment. Perrin also shares insights from others on the frontlines, including prosecutors and defence lawyers, police chiefs, Indigenous leaders, victim support workers, corrections officers, public health experts, gang outreach workers, prisoner and victims' rights advocates, criminologists, psychologists, and leading trauma experts. Bringing forward the voices of marginalized people, along with their stories of survival and resilience, Indictment shows that a better way is possible."--
In the first part of the project, a compilation of data on disinfection by-products (DBPs) as well as the biocidal active substances from product types (PTs) 1-5, 11 and 12 that are approved within the EU or within the approval process were compiled. The data on the DBPs resulted from a literature search in which 272 DBPs were identified. In addition to the substance data, the active substances used and the matrix treated were recorded in the tabular summary. A strong bias of the scientific literature on the investigation of highly reactive, especially chlorinating active substances in aqueous solution was determined. The list of biocidal active substances was compiled from the ECHA database (as of July 2019). A categorization of the biocidal active substances was developed and the DBP formation potential of each active ingredient was evaluated on the basis of this categorization. In a modeling approach, the distribution of selected DBPs and biocidal active substances in the water and air compartments for applications in solution and on surfaces and the distribution in water and sewage sludge in a sewage treatment plant was estimated. In most cases, there were significant differences between the distributions of the DBPs and the active ingredients. The formation of approximately 60 DBPs was investigated in laboratory simulations of disinfection applications in solution and on surfaces with different active substances. In addition, samples from real disinfection applications were analyzed. Based on the project results, the current procedure for risk assessment of the DBPs was analyzed in the last project phase and proposals for modifications were discussed, which aim to simplify and harmonize the risk assessment of the DBPs within the EU.
Das Anwendungshandbuch liefert eine Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitung des Excel-basierten Bewertungswerkzeugs TRAFIS.NB. TRAFIS.NB ermöglicht die Nachhaltigkeitsbewertung von innovativen Infrastrukturlösungen. Es aktiviert lokal verfügbares Wissen und zeigt mögliche Stärken und Schwächen von Lösungsvarianten in den Dimensionen "Versorgungssicherheit", "Ressourcenschonung", "Wirtschaftlichkeit und Nutzerorientierung" auf. TRAFIS.NB kann für die Auswahl der bestgeeigneten Lösungsoption und die zielgerichtete Weiterentwicklung von Varianten genutzt werden. Nutzer*innen von TRAFIS.NB sind Betreiber*innen und Planer*innen von Infrastrukturen oder öffentliche Verwaltungen.
