The argument of this paper is that the emergence of military dictatorships, such as the Brazilian regime of 1964, is not caused by an economic crisis of dependent capitalist development. Rather, it results from a polarization and radicalization of the democratic regime by which it is preceded. Democracies handed down from above, like that in Brazil and other South American countries, favor the emergence of modern forms of autocracy

Soil erosion was assessed at Camp Williams National Guard Base by creating an erosion risk classification map and comparing the erosion impact of disturbance regimes on different hillslopes. Soil erosion does not appear to be a problem for most of Camp Williams. The Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation was applied using GIS to create a soil erosion risk map for the entire Camp Williams facility. The map indicated where problem areas occurred and showed relative erosion risk, but its lack of quantitative accuracy should be noted. Areas of concern included landscapes with little or no protective vegetation such as roads, abandoned agricultural fields, and sensitive riparian areas where gullies tend to form and expand. The Water Erosion Prediction Project model was used to evaluate the erosion impacts of various disturbances on five study hillslopes. The model did not appear to function well on the Camp Williams study hillslopes because the distribution of infiltration rates could not be satisfactorily represented. However, hydraulic conductivity measurements collected for this task were useful in providing insight into some of the physical processes of erosion. The hydraulic conductivity measurements showed some of the impacts of military activities, grazing, and wildfire on soil properties. Erosion bridges were also used on the five study hillslopes in an attempt to measure soil Joss and deposition. However, the bridges Jacked the capability of measuring the low rates of erosion during the time period set for this experiment. The bridges showed potential for measuring erosion in rills, gullies, highly disturbed areas, or in longer duration experiments.
Despite the relatively short history of the Taiwanese in the United States, they have been a significant presence in America. Since 1965, immigration law changes have led to a dramatic increase in the Asian population in the United States. Taiwanese Americans, the immigrants from Taiwan and their descendants, are a prominent group in this increasing Asian population. This is the first book-length study about the Taiwanese American community in the United States. While most articles have discussed the economic impact of their immigration, this study focuses on their community organization, info

Trends in the global social development increasingly clearly demonstrate their relation to the processes of socialization of the global economy. Countries around the world are creating a global socio-economic space in the framework of integration and globalization. Global development of social economies in the world serves as the basis for further cooperation of the countries in addressing global problems and ensuring decent living standards of the population. It also applies to the countries with transition economies. The main problem of development of the process of economy socialization is its financial support, which makes the search for potential sources of financing more relative. The article's aim is to assess the source base of socialization of the economy of Ukraine as a country with transition economy with identification of strengths and weaknesses of financial security of social processes in the country.Method of investigation was the correlation-regression analysis of the source base of socialization of the Ukrainian economy with construction of a multifactor regression equation. The main result of the article is correlation-regression analysis that has found that the amount of income of the population is significantly affected by two indicators: financing of scientific and technical works and the amount of loans provided by the Ukrainian banks to the residents. In the article, it is proposed to stimulate the innovative activity through increasing the funding of scientific and technical works from different sources that can be practical recommendation to the government politics.
"This industry-leading textbook covers all aspects relating to the operation, marketing, and management of fixed-base operators (FBOs). Author Dr. C. Daniel Prather, an experienced aviation industry professional educator, presents key considerations for FBO managers and prepares university-level students for this competitive business field. This text begins by covering the history of general aviation and the scope of the current industry and then examines all elements of FBO operations, including line service, aircraft maintenance, flight operations, aircraft sales, aircraft charter, customer service, and more. A focus on marketing an FBO explores the role of marketing, sales and promotion, marketing research, and transportation needs assessment. As a management resource, this book examines methods of acquiring a business aircraft, management functions and organization, risk management, financial planning, and human resources as well as presents current and future challenges confronting FBOs. Each chapter contains resources to aid readers' learning, including definitions of key terms, review questions, and real-world scenarios to help students apply their learning to challenges encountered by FBOs. Entrepreneurs establishing an FBO will find practical discussions of FBO services to consider, safe line service practices, proper legal structures, marketing plans, risk management, and more"--
Some observers of the Canadian Forces perceive a marked increase in the numbers of civilian employees in the more senior administrative and policy positions at National Defence Headquarters. This article shows how this perception is rooted in the integration of the civilian and military sections of the Department of National Defence and not in unification of the Canadian Forces. Further, the argument is made that despite the appearances of an increase of civilians at the more senior decision-making levels, there has, in fact, been an increase in the proportion of military officers.
