Professional musicians who perform in hospitals, retirement homes and prisons, creatively stimulated by the residents; babies crawling over exercise mats, enjoying classical music together with their parents; concert-goers who take their seats between the musicians in order to experience music up close with all their senses - the opportunities to make and experience music are almost unlimited. Various actors in the field of classical music have taken this as a chance to develop a wide range of new artistic and educational practices over the last two decades, aiming to facilitate in-depth aesthetic experiences, to diversify and bond with audiences and to encourage active cultural participation. The contributors focus on the innovative potential of Musikvermittlung as a social bridge-builder for concert life, (higher) music education, research and social life.

Two scientific disciplines, Cultural Science and the research stream on Inclusion in Schools and Education, have experienced a similar change of paradigm, when they both let go of their dominant criterion to distinguish between groups and widened their view to an endless variety of so-called dimensions of heterogeneity. In this context, the construct "Awareness of Heterogeneity" has been designed. It describes, how (prospective) schoolteachers perceive heterogeneity among their pupils. Respective empirical findings show, which dimensions of heterogeneity they expect to find at school, which ones they detect in a concrete setting, and how they rank and evaluate them. This leads to the question, if their consideration of heterogeneous classrooms as an enrichment and/or challenge varies with the kind of dimensions of heterogeneity they have in mind.
The article focuses the challenges for school-learning because of world-complexity. It's a plead for multi-perspective and non-reductionist learning arrangements of Global Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainable Development, arguing from a perspective of an affirmative and reconstructive postmodernism; offered by teachers as gatekeepers or facilitators within three contexts, presenting life-chances - scale, meaning and feeling, politics and economy. (DIPF/Orig.) (DIPF/Orig.)

"In the post-Trump era, the Black lived experience continues to come under assault. Emerging from the suffering imposed on Black bodies comes Black Existential Philosophy, an umbrella term encompassing the multiple depictions of Black life under White subjugation. Whether taking the form of first hand narratives of the lives of enslaved Blacks, the racialized theological discourse of the Nation of Islam, or the writings of W.E.B. Du Bois and Frantz Fanon, the works comprising Black Existentialism offer a look into both the world of the racialized Black "Other" as well as the never-ending quest to recapture and reassert Black humanity. In Discovering Black Existentialism, E. Anthony Muhammad documents his personal and academic journey to Black Existentialism. In doing so, the book illuminates the power of curriculum as a shaping agent in the life of an educator and researcher. As a combination of autobiography, theory, and pedagogy, this work gives the reader an intimate view into the developmental arc of a Black Existentialist scholar. This book offers valuable insights to students searching for direction, to researchers attempting to find meaning in their work, and to educators striving to make their pedagogy relevant to the lives of their students"--

First published in 1973, 'Reason and Compassion' showcases a collection of lectures by Professor Richard S. Peters concerned primarily with the moral position, based on compassion and on the use of reason, which is critical to code-encased moralities. He reacts to the idea that whilst many people are sympathetic towards protests against an established moral code, they are reluctant to align themselves with modern forms of nihilism, subjectivism and romantic revolt
