In referring to the studies in this book as ethnocriticism , I take up again a concept I tentatively offered more than a decade ago in my first awkward attempt to say something about Native Americans as subjects and producers of varieties of American discourse. Ethnocriticism is the name I give to a particular perspective as this is manifested on the level of critical writing. On the pedagogical or curricular level, the ethnocritical perspective manifests itself in the form of multiculturalism , a term I take to refer to that particular organization of cultural studies which engages otherness and difference in such a way as to provoke an interrogation of and a challenge to what we ordinarily take as familiar and our own.

Tatiana Gabroussenko's Soldiers on the Cultural Front is the second book in English after 16 years to deal with North Korean literature. Written as a literary history with a strong focus on biography and policy, the study explains that Soviet Stalinist socialist realism was successfully implanted in North Korea from 1945 to 1960. Soldiers on the Cultural Front, however, neglects the 'theoretical problems of literary studies.' The consequence is that subjective value-judgments, extra-literary specialization determinism, and naive induction intrude upon the subject matter, reconfirming that North Korean literary studies in English is still not a well-developed or theoretically self-aware field.
Anti-Literature by Adam Shellhorse offers a "broad-based discussion" on literature of modern Argentina and Brazil, taking into consideration the historical, cultural, political and social processes in Latin America and their influence on the creative processes of experimental texts (4). By examining how texts engage with the European colonial legacy and with their own conditions of production, expressing "original life-words of its autochthonous peoples" (5), the author proposes new approaches to what he describes as an anti-literature, i.e., the "multidisciplinary, minoritarian, and multimedial 'body' of writing that produces and affects (…) new modes of perception" (7). These new modes of perception, which create a new perspective for literary studies, evolve side-by-side with "urgent debates in Latin America studies and literary and filmic production: sub-alternity, feminine writing, post-hegemony, concretism, affect, experimental poetics, marranismo, and the politics of aesthetics" (8). ; Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia

ABSTRACT
This article describes the literary and academic interest in Thomas More's Utopia in Turkish literature and its translations into Turkish. More's text as a historically and literarily significant work appeals to academia and the general reader through its widespread reception in Turkey. This article also presents a brief survey of utopianism and a critical approach to some selected translations in terms of paratextual elements, language, and translators' domestication or foreignization preferences in these translations. It renders a brief list of some exemplary Turkish utopias and dystopias and touches on the repercussions of the utopian impulse in Turkish representations of alternative social orders. The article therefore aims to inform international scholars about the existence of constant interest in utopia in Turkey through an analytical interpretation of a selection of translations of More's Utopia and to thus contribute to a broader understanding of More's influence.
