La presente investigación nace en torno a la pregunta sobre cómo y por qué los grupos sociales cargan el espacio con significados e ideologías, y a través de qué parámetros, gustos o sesgos culturales lo simbolizan y lo representan. La tesis se centra en una manera particular representar espacios altamente re-significados: el paisaje, el cual es visto como una imagen cultural, por medio de la cual individuos o grupos sociales simbolizan y estructuran su entorno. En este sentido, la tesis aborda en términos históricos el proceso de construcción social del paisaje, centrándose en el análisis e interpretación de documentos escritos e iconográficos relativos a la Sabana de Bogotá de finales del siglo XIX. A partir de estas fuentes, a lo largo del trabajo se tratan de develar los significados, los símbolos y los usos políticos que un grupo social particular, como lo fue una élite terrateniente, hizo del paisaje de la Sabana en dicho periodo. / Abstract. This research stems around the question of how and why social groups charged the space with meanings and ideologies, and by what parameters, what tastes or cultural biases symbolize and represent it. The thesis focuses on a particular way represent highly re-meanings spaces: the landscape, which is seen as a cultural image, through which individuals or groups symbolize and structure their environment. In this sense, the thesis approaches in historical terms the process of social construction of landscape, focusing on analysis and interpretation of written documents and iconography on the Sabana de Bogotá in the late nineteenth century. From these sources, along the thesis is trying to uncover the meanings, symbols, and the political uses of a particular social group, as was a landed elite, made the landscape of the Sabana in that period. ; Maestría

This article discusses the current development of Bharatiyakaran/Indianisation of social work education and practice in India. Drawing on relevant information from Bharatiyakaran workshops and conferences, it analyses mission and motives, and prospects and perils of Bharatiyakaran. The Indic-religions and emic approach are crafting a unique form of the Indian religio-cultural nationalism. The Bharatiyakaran advocates assert that their initiatives of de-colonisation, Indianisation and indigenisation would challenge the Eurocentric domination of the Indian social work. While indigenisation of social work in India is overdue, the current Bharatiyakaran trend raises more contradictions and questions.

La práctica de la ciudadanía digital en condiciones de equidad es uno de los principalesretos políticos ante las nuevas formas de vida social, política y económica que emergencon el impacto de las TIC. El ejercicio de una ciudadanía digital activa se resume en elderecho y la capacidad para participar plenamente en la sociedad de la información conconfianza, de forma segura y aprovechando al máximo su potencial en beneficio personal.Esta investigación se ocupa del grado en que las mujeres que viven en zonas ruralesejercitan su ciudadanía digital a partir del estudio de prácticas digitales concretas como lagestión de su identidad en red y la participación democrática en redes sociales. En lainvestigación se sigue un diseño cuantitativo basado en encuestas personales a 478mujeres rurales andaluzas con distintos perfiles. Los resultados muestran un ejercicio dela ciudadanía digital moderado con diferencias en función del nivel educativo de lasmujeres y del tamaño de su red. El estudio muestra prácticas digitales necesarias para quelas mujeres rurales participen activamente en estos nuevos entornos en los que seconstruye la ciudadanía. De acuerdo con otros estudios, este trabajo muestra a las redessociales como la tecnología digital con mayor potencial para la inclusión digital de lasmujeres rurales y desvela cómo determinadas prácticas digitales activan la participaciónciudadana e impactan en su bienestar. ; The practice of the digital citizenship in conditions of equity is one of the principalpolitical challenges for the social, political and economic new life forms.These changesemerge with the impact of the new digital technologies. The digital active citizenship isthe right and the aptitude to take part in the society of the information with confidenceand security. Women ́s digital citizenship was a key to maximum exploitation of thebenefits of ICT. This research studies the degree in which the rural women exercise hisdigital citizenship across a particular practices as the management of his identity and thedemocratic participation in social networks and its relation with the well­being. Thisresearch follow a quantitative design based on surveys to 478 rural women fromAndalusia with different profiles. The results show an moderated exercise of the digitalcitizenship with differences to educational level and the size of the network. The studyshows digital practices necessary for rural women to actively participate in these newenvironments in which citizenship is built. According to other studies, this study showssocial networks like digital technology with the greatest potential for digital inclusion ofrural women and reveals how certain digital practices activate citizen participation andimpact on their well being.

Recently protest camps have emerged around the world as a highly visible form of protest. Part and parcel of new social movement activism for over 40 years, they are important sites and catalysts for identity creation, expression, political contention and incubators for social change. While research has punctually addressed individual camps, there is lack of comparative and comprehensive research that links historic and contemporary protest camps as a unique area of interdisciplinary study. Research on the phenomenon to date has remained punctual and case based. This paper proposes to study protest camps as a distinct new field of research in social movement studies. Existing literature is critically reviewed and framed in three thematic clusters of spatiality, affect and autonomy. On the basis of this review the paper develops a research approach based on the analysis of infrastructures used to make protest camps. We contest that an infrastructural analysis highlights protest camps as a unique organizational form and transcends the limits of case-based research while respecting the varying contexts and trajectories of protest camps.

Summary Social workers have had a pivotal role in handling the challenges faced by people dealing with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Supporting clients who have undergone traumatic experiences during a global pandemic may increase the risk of experiencing secondary traumatic stress. This study examined two protective factors that may be key in the association between stress and social workers' secondary traumatic stress: Psychological capital (internal protective factor) and satisfaction with supervision (external factor). The study sample included 104 Israeli social workers who worked in their profession during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. A regression-based path analysis was conducted to test the moderation model with the PROCESS software. Findings Self-efficacy significantly moderated the association between perceived stress and intrusion; increasing self-efficacy decreases perceived stress's effect on intrusion. Although no significant moderating effect was found for the existence of supervision, the interaction between perceived stress and satisfaction with supervision was significant in predicting secondary trauma. Applications Social workers' unions must work to improve the quality of supervision and raise awareness of the importance of supervision in general and particularly during times of crisis. Manageable workloads, a reasonable balance between work and home, and verbal and financial encouragement to seek professional psychological assistance would all be to the advantage of social workers at risk for secondary trauma.

While highly respected among evolutionary scholars, the sociologist, anthropologist and philosopher Edward Westermarck is now largely forgotten in the social sciences. This book is the first full study of his moral and social theory, focusing on the key elements of his theory of moral emotions as presented in The Origin and Development of the Moral Ideas and summarised in Ethical Relativity. Examining Westermarck's evolutionary approach to the human mind, the author introduces important new themes to scholarship on Westermarck, including the pivotal role of emotions in human reciprocity, the evolutionary origins of human society, social solidarity, the emergence and maintenance of moral norms and moral responsibility. A rigorous examination of Westermarck's moral and social theory in its intellectual context, this volume connects Westermarck's work on morality to classical sociology, to the history of evolutionism in the social and behavioural sciences, and to the sociological study of morality and emotions, showing him to be the forerunner of modern evolutionary psychology and anthropology. In revealing the lasting value of his work in understanding and explaining a wide range of moral phenomena, it will appeal to scholars of sociology, anthropology and psychology with interests in social theory, morality and intellectual history.

Abstract
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the leading professional organization for social work that established the Code of Ethics and sets the policy agenda for the profession. Guided by the Code of Ethics and the Grand Challenges for Social Work goal to "build healthy relationships to end violence," the NASW Social Work Speaks policy compendium should reassert its statement against the physical punishment of children. This recommendation aligns with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and children's right to protection from violence; the rigorous empirical research base, which demonstrates that physical punishment has detrimental consequences to child well-being; and similar policy statements issued by allied professional organizations. The NASW policies can advocate for ending violence against children by providing guidance on disciplinary practices that are based on principles of nonviolence and that respect children's human rights. Practitioners can support caregivers through interventions that provide alternatives to physical punishment.

To what extent do personal circumstances, as compared to ideological dispositions, drive voters' preferences on welfare policy? Addressing this question is difficult because a person's ideological position can be an outcome of material interest rather than an independent source of preferences. The article deals with this empirical challenge using an original panel study carried out over four years, tracking the labor market experiences and the political attitudes of a national sample of Americans before and after the eruption of the financial crisis. The analysis shows that the personal experience of economic hardship, particularly the loss of a job, had a major effect on increasing support for welfare spending. This effect was appreciably larger among Republicans than among Democrats, a result that was not simply due to a "ceiling effect." However the large attitudinal shift was short lived, dissipating as individuals' employment situations improved. The results indicate that the personal experience of an economic shock has a sizable, yet overall transient effect on voters' social policy preferences.

In both developed nations and the developing world, there is a clear trend towards addressing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug problems through health and social services. There are several persuasive arguments for this shift beyond pure economics, which include comorbidity, cost effectiveness, coordination of care and effectiveness. This is the first volume to pull together effective methods that can be used for addressing substance abuse through health and social service systems. It also integrates interventions for a range of drugs of abuse, rather than focusing on only one (such as alcohol). The book's international perspective also makes this a unique contribution to the existing literature

Der vorliegende Aufsatz stellt die Frage, wie wir heute, im Zeitalter des digitalen Texts, lesen und nimmt dabei verschiedene Formen des Lesens in den Blick. Die ersten drei Abschnitte des vorliegenden Aufsatzes skizzieren die Techniken des Close und Deep Reading, des Distant Reading und des Hyper und Social Reading in ihren Grundzügen. Aufbauend auf diesen Begriffsgeschichten und -bestimmungen besprechen wir in den folgenden Abschnitten die Möglichkeiten, Grenzen und Risiken der unterschiedlichen Lesetechniken. Dabei tauchen Fragen auf wie: welchen Nutzen können Verlage und Buchhandlungen wie Amazon aus den Interpretationen ziehen, die Social Readers bereitwillig ins Netz stellen? Ermöglicht die computergestützte Analyse grosser digitalisierter Textmengen tatsächlich, wie von Distant Readers propagiert, eine objektivierte Form der Literaturgeschichtsschreibung? Vernachlässigt beim Close Reading die ausschliessliche Fokussierung auf den Text selbst nicht gerade das, was für viele Leserinnen die Literatur lesenswert macht, ihre Einbettung in historische und gesellschaftliche Zusammenhänge? Im zweiten Teil dieses Aufsatzes werden die jeweiligen Lesetechniken aus kulturkritischer Sicht auf ihre kognitiven und gesellschaftlichen Wirkungen, ihre wissenschaftspolitische (Selbst-)Positionierung und ihren Erkenntniswert hin befragt.
