What does justice demand in international trade regulation? And how far does World Trade Organization (WTO) law respond to those demands? Whether our focus is developing countries, struggling industries, or environmental protection, distributive conflict is a pervasive feature of international economic law. Despite this, we lack an adequate theory of distributive justice for this domain. Drawing on philosophical approaches to global justice, this book advances a novel theory of justice in trade regulation, and applies this to explain and critique the law of the WTO. Integrating theoretical and doctrinal approaches, it demonstrates the potential for political theory to illuminate and inform the progressive development of WTO law, including rules on border measures, discrimination, trade remedies and domestic regulation. Written from an interdisciplinary perspective, accessible to lawyers, philosophers and political scientists, the book will appeal both to theorists interested in building bridges from theory to practice, and practitioners seeking new perspectives on existing problems.

Decolonization in parts of the Third World and particularly Africa has resulted in the emergence of numerous "quasi-states," which are independent largely by international courtesy. They exist by virtue of an external right of self-determination— negative sovereignty—without yet demonstrating much internal capacity for effective and civil government—positive sovereignty. They therefore disclose a new dual international civil regime in which two standards of statehood now coexist: the traditional empirical standard of the North and a new juridical standard of the South. The biases in the constitutive rules of the sovereignty game today and for the first time in modern international history arguably favor the weak. If international theory is to account for this novel situation it must acknowledge the possibility that morality and legality can, in certain circumstances, be independent of power in international relations. This suggests that contemporary international theory must accommodate not only Machiavellian realism and the sociological discourse of power but also Grotian rationalism and the jurisprudential idiom of law.

The family has always been the basic cell of social life. The aim of this research is to point out some very important theoretical issues and how and to what extent they have been implemented in positive European legislation. Bearing in mind the aforementioned, the work is divided into two parts, the first of which deals with theoretical issues, starting with the consideration of the theory of sociological orientation, and at the end of this part, looking at aspects of feminist explanations. In the second part of the paper, the most important international documents on protection from violence in the family, in marriage and partner relationships were considered through the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the European Union.
As social movement organizations (SMOs) enter the platform economy to transform their processes and scale their impact, they have to reckon their traditional logic with the emerging logic of the platform organization. In this paper we examine the Decoder initiative at Amnesty International. The Decoder initiative introduced the global SMO into the uncharted territory of online microtasking of political activism. The platform allowed rapid scaling of repetitive unstructured data tasks to generate large quantities of standardized data, leveraging the work of thousands previously unaffiliated digital supporters around the world. While partially contrasting, we trace and examine the coexistence of the SMO and digital platform logics. We conclude with implications for theory and practice.

The rapid foreign credit growth has been one of the main drivers of growth in
Serbia in recent years. As growth has accelerated, the Serbian economy has
become burdened with considerable external imbalances and current account
deficits. As a result of the growing debt financing of the external deficit,
the foreign debt rose to 22.7 billion EUR in late December 2009. Since the
gains from privatization in the 2008-2010 period are not means of servicing
the loans that could be counted on in the long run, the issue of sustaining
the existing dynamics of paying off the foreign loan has been brought into
question. International financial organizations have an important role in
Serbia?s economic development and convergence with the European Union. Its
resources have been mainly focused on spurring economic growth and promoting
the policies that stimulate foreign direct investment and create employment,
restructuring and ownership change in the enterprise sector.
