The article is a reflection on the power and control of capitalist enterprises with regards to nature and how, through market expansion, nature as a common good for humanity is exploited in devastating ways, reducing natural resources simple to the buying and selling of goods. Additionally, these goods and services are never including the cost to cover the burden of environmental and social impacts that contribute to destroy the planet. Companies, in complicity with the state governments and international organizations, do not favor the creation of instruments, policies and preventive and punitive social spaces to prevent environmental damage they cause, weakening the legal systems of environment protection in order to continue the overexploitation according to their mercantilist and utilitarian approach. In this sense, all the damage caused to nature by companies is not part of their financial investments; it is part of their expenses as they do not internalize the cost it takes to produce goods. This makes goods more competitive and profitable because not they are paying the actual cost for the production of their goods and services. We set out to make this article because of the need to capture the theoretical routes and paths across rural life, historize and relate the approaches that we, as professionals build with the Peasant Movement. We know that we got transformed after the experience of visiting ancestral communities, taking part in moments of political formation and discussing about the kind of university that we, as socio-territorial movements imagine. After allowing our sensitivities to go through these experiences we, finally, found shelter in the decolonial paradigms. Embodying the collective struggles of the communities, we were able to witness the outcoming of the peasant popular feminism. We left to a side the theoretical narratives and categories that contain and express the historical demands of the sector and its role on the regional economy. We are in the urge of understanding our role as a professional collective in rural life and exchange approaches. The writing is organized into three sections with a dialectic look between macro and micro. In the first part we have described the social agrarian situation with its complexity and from a historical perspective. We then went on to addressing the state and public politics. We finally have discussed about university and social work. ; Nos propusimos realizar este artículo por la necesidad de plasmar los recorridos teóricos y de caminos por la ruralidad; historizar y relatar los acercamientos que, como profesionales, construimos con el Movimiento Campesino. Sabemos que luego de visitar las comunidades ancestrales, de participar de instancias de formación política, de discusiones sobre la Universidad que los movimientos socioterritoriales sueñan, no somos las mismas. Dejamos atravesar los cuerpos y sentidos por las vivencias y encontramos cobijo en los paradigmas decoloniales. Pusimos nuestro cuerpo territorio en las luchas colectivas, para ser testigos de cómo nace el feminismo popular campesino. Sorteamos búsquedas de relatos teóricos y categorías que contuvieran y expresaran las demandas históricas del sector y su importancia en la estructura económica regional. Nos resulta indispensable pensar nuestro rol como colectivo profesional en la ruralidad e invertir las miradas al momento de conocer. El escrito se organiza en tres apartados con una perspectiva dialéctica entre lo macro y lo micro. En un primer momento se describe la cuestión social agraria desde la complejidad y desde una perspectiva histórica. En un segundo momento nos referimos al Estado y las políticas públicas, y finalmente hablamos sobre la universidad y el trabajo social.

PurposeDue to the non-rivalrous and non-excludable characteristics of properties classified as being part of the cultural heritage of a city, owners of these properties face a lower incentive to maintain them. Many studies have advocated the participation of the local community in the maintenance of such "public" properties because community demands and tastes are better reflected through direct participation than through government intervention. One of the main factors that may determine whether or not such participation would be forthcoming is whether the community identifies with elements that the cultural heritage building represents. The purpose of this paper is to examine the cultural effects of the Chinese community with regard to the preservation of the heritage buildings that reflect the community's early presence in George Town, Penang.Design/methodology/approachAn experimental method was used to invoke feelings of social identity through historical and cultural photos about these buildings associated with the community. The authors attempted to create an emotional attachment to the cultural and historical values in a laboratory.FindingsThe authors found that information increased the participants' positive feelings toward their historical and cultural backgrounds. This positive emotion might explain why the subjects appeared more willing to contribute to the public pool to maintain these buildings. The findings suggest that the incorporating cultural and historical information about heritage buildings may encourage more pro-social behaviors.Social implicationsAlthough community participation and discussions can help to align the conservation objectives of diverse stakeholders, the divergence between individual and collective interests may cause individuals to shirk from their commitment, given the public nature of the goods. Therefore, investigating whether a factor that aligns diverse interests or the nature of the game can influence behavior is important to the development of strategies used in the provision of public good.Originality/valueAlthough the impact of social identity on social dilemma has been widely studied, the empirical proof and its application to preservation of cultural heritage has not been studied. As far as the authors know, this is the first paper that experimentally proves the importance of social identity and its role in provision of social goods.

En el presente texto se realiza una breve revisión de algunas concepciones acerca del trabajo producidas bajo diferentes circunstancias históricas, con el objeto de abordar la comprensión de cómo y por qué, el sentido del trabajo tuvo diversas y hasta contrapuestas interpretaciones y cómo, bajo las actuales circunstancias de crisis, se instituyen nuevas significaciones con el fin de legitimar los cambios en las relaciones y condiciones en que trabajan las personas. Se analiza el sentido actual del trabajo en el marco del cambio que impone los requerimientos de una economía globalizada. El desarrollo técnico y la automatización de la industria, la reconversión del proceso de trabajo y los procesos simbólicos de legitimación del sistema capitalista, forman parte de los elementos que dan una configuración semántica diferente al trabajo como hecho social. Se realiza una reflexión especial, acerca del sentido del trabajo en el contexto de la profunda crisis por la que atraviesa Argentina.

We propose that individual differences in the resistance to social change and the acceptance of inequality can have divergent effects on legitimacy depending on the context. This possibility was tested in a sample of 27 European countries (N = 144 367) and across four experiments (total N = 475). Individual differences in the resistance to social change were related to higher levels of perceived legitimacy no matter the level of inequality of the society. Conversely, individual differences in the acceptance of inequality were related to higher levels of perceived legitimacy in unequal societies, but either a relationship near zero or the opposite relationship was found in more equal societies. These studies highlight the importance of distinguishing between individual differences that make up political ideology, especially when making predictions in diverse settings. © 2017 The Authors. A partir del concepto "imaginación social" utilizado por Pablo VI y de la tensión virtuosa entre mediocritas y radicalidad se reflexiona en tres tiempos: la propuesta de una nueva síntesis humanista (momento hermenéutico), la necesidad de indagar los criterios y lugares sociales de la misión universitaria (momento epistemológico) y la unidad intrínseca entre formación ética y compromiso por la justicia en un proyecto de educación humanista (momento ético político). "The U.S. hospitality industry's profitability has been shifting to environmental management and corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices. Hospitality industries accounted for 5% of the global market in 2015 and are expected to increase by 130% in 2035. Grounded in stakeholder theory, this correlation study examined the relationship between corporate sustainability officer (CSO) CSR, CSO environmental management, and hospitality business profitability. Secondary data were collected from 97 hotel websites of the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota from 2014 to 2016. The multiple linear regression combinations of CSR and environmental management (EM) measured significantly related to the profitability index, F(3, 93) = 4.67, p < .001, adj. R2 = .13. The sample multiple correlation coefficients were .36, indicating approximately 13% of the variance of the profitability index. The multiple linear regression combinations of CSR measures significantly related to the profitability index, F(2,94) = 6.05, p < .001, adjusted R2 = .11. The sample multiple correlation coefficients were .34, indicating approximately 11% of the variance of the profitability index. The linear combination of EM measures were not significantly related to the profitability index, F(2,94) = 2.91, p < .001, adjusted R2 = .06. The sample multiple correlation coefficients were .24, indicating approximately 6% of the variance of the profitability index. The implications for positive social change include the potential to identify hospitality industry leaders involved in environmental management who have a CSR to promote social change in their communities."
