The Reformed Medical Curriculum (RMC) at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin was launched in autumn 1999, while medical schools in Canada, the United States, Scotland, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia already had adapted educational reforms in medical education many years before , . For eleven years, 63 medical students per year trained at the Faculty in accordance with international standards governing the RMC. It was the first and perhaps most revolutionary reformed medical curriculum at a German university after the commencement of "Modellklausel", a new section in the Licensing Regulations for Doctors (Approbationsordnung für Ärztinnen und Ärzte) in 1999 that paved the way for fundamental reforms within undergraduate medical education in Germany. The idea was to establish and test a "pilot project of a fundamental reform of medical education in Germany" , thus aligning Germany with international developments and establishing a model for other reform initiatives. The first part of the article will provide an overview of how the RMC were able to emerge. It reports who initiated the project and why, who kept it running and encountered opposition and what were the social and political conditions. The second part of the article describes the principles that were fundamental for the development of the RMC. The third part illustrates the quality assurance measures, and the final section covers the termination of the RMC.

Originally published in 2002, this volume focuses on the growth of derivatives, the savings and loan crisis, the merger mania of the 1980s, the accompanying insider trading scandals, and the battle with inflation. This history then reviews the market run-up in the 1990s and the rebirth of finance that was being strongly pushed by the Internet economy as the third millennium began.
This commentary asks a provocative question: what if 9/11 conspirators were to have walked through NY during and after the attacks to attempt community relations? As horrific and absurd as this might sound, that is how we are perceived in some corners of the world, in the aftermath of airstrikes and destruction, attempting to persuade or engender good will. This commentary arrives at the conclusion that it is disingenuous to attempt to win the hearts and minds of an indigenous population when those efforts are set against the backdrop of military materiel and personnel. ©Journal of Professional Communication, all rights reserved.

Towards the end of the 19th century, the relations between Austria-Hungary and Romania experienced several delicate episodes, caused by the diametrically opposed interests of the two sides regarding the specific realities of South-Eastern Europe. The rulers in Vienna and especially those in Budapest could only see the Romanian state as an obstacle to their plans, and therefore tried to quickly learn and decipher the diplomatic and political intentions and initiatives of the Romanian decision-makers. On different occasions, in order to obtain the necessary information, they resorted to setting up and supporting networks of influencers, propagandists and spies, both in Transylvania and across the Carpathians. The present article aims to add details to the depiction of an interesting figure, Vándory Lajos, who, according to the press of the time and several archival documents, was one of those who operated within the territory of the Romanian state as a spy, under the cover of working as a journalist. At various times, by his actions, he contributed to the further straining of the already problematic Romanian-Hungarian relations.

; The main purpose of this study, based on the conviction that what we might call the positive aspect of the history of the Rule of Law, especially the separation of powers, has been thoroughly studied, is to examine its negative aspect, i.e., the arbitrariness concept and the manner in which citizens have perceived it throughout history. To address this matter, first there is a brief review of the historical background of the Ancient Times and the Middle Ages (with emphasis on the Magna Carta). Secondly, the three major revolutions of Modern Times against the arbitrary use of power are analyzed: the English Revolution of the 17th Century, the American Revolution and the French Revolution of the 18th Century and then the Spanish Revolution of the 19th Century. The analysis of these important historical times provides a very interesting result to the judicial sphere: the different perception of the one holding the arbitrary power (the King in England, the Parliament in the United States of America and the King and its Courts in France and Spain) led to a different articulation of the common division of powers, with efficient mechanisms to prevent the arbitrary use of power in politics in the United States of America and Great Britain and rather less efficient in France and Spain.

This exploratory study will attempt to identify an innovative perspective of the aspects pertaining to the recovery from addiction which are susceptible to be disclosed primarily by using methods inspired by the analysis of interactions. The method used in research is qualitative focus group with addictions counsellors and people in recovery, working in a counseling center.
