Die Rezeption der Utopia im frühen 16. Jahrhundert
In: Utopieforschung: interdisziplinäre Studien zur neuzeitlichen Utopie. 2, S. 168-182
(Autorenreferat)

In: Extensio: Revista Eletrônica de Extensão, Band 19, Heft 41, S. 105-119
ISSN: 1807-0221

Gobernanza indígena en tiempos de COVID-19 en Colombia ; Indigenous governance in times of COVID-19 in Colombia
Introduction: This article aims to establish the scope and challenges of indigenous governance in times of COVID-19 in Colombia since the mechanisms for political participation of indigenous people in Colombia are established in the Constitution. This legal framework respects the decisions made by the indigenous people, including economic and social issues. Methods: Through the analysis of sources, the authors determine how indigenous governance has been limited in times of pandemic emergency and the guarantee of their rights amid restrictions that have not been considered rooted and traditional practices. The recognition of their identity and knowledge -further the principles of coexistence, reconciliation, cooperation, and plurality- promotes the preservation of their autonomy, characterized by territorial management in harmony with nature. Results: the measures enforced by the Colombian government were focused on the health sector to tend to the pandemic emergency, without considering the economicor social consequences. In this scenario, indigenous governance was relegated, deepening social gaps with a vast history. Discussion: The pandemic caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 also impacted the health of indigenous people, worsening other problems that have been affected them along the time. In the department of Amazonas, the response of the Colombian government to attend to this emergency has revealed the risks and the historical difficulties suffered by indigenous people. Conclusions: In this scenario, the lack of protective actions for the indigenous communities of the Amazon has intensified the historical and structural vulnerabilities they suffered for decades in Colombia.

In: Questions internationales, Band 110, Heft 6, S. 18-29
Prussia in the historical culture of the German Democratic Republic: communists and kings
In: Studies in German history
No example demonstrates the fluidity of the past within the German Democratic Republic more powerfully than the history of the Prussian state. Initially attacked in East German official histories as the historical engine of German militarism and reaction, Prussia underwent a remarkable transformation in official and public memory from around the end of the 1970s. This was the so-called 'Prussia-Renaissance', in which, for the first time, the East German state began to recognise and even celebrate figures from Prussian history who had not served a 'progressive' agenda. But the 'Prussia-Renaissance' was also a political and cultural phenomenon with a wide public resonance. The 'Prussia-Renaissance' may have been a relatively short-lived phenomenon, but it evidently opened a deep vein in the historical memory of the German Democratic Republic that defied reduction to 'high politics' alone. This book asks why. Using the case study of Prussia, Marcus Colla presents a multi-perspective approach to the way that a distinctive 'historical culture' was constructed in the German Democratic Republic. It not only evaluates the roles played by political figures, historians, and cultural elites, but also heritage preservationists, exhibition curators, heimat museums, television producers, novelists and playwrights, and singers – the purveyors of what we might more generally term 'popular culture'. In essence, Colla poses four fundamental questions for our understanding of life, politics and culture in communist East Germany: how was history there made? How was it understood? How was it contested? And how was it used?
