This volume argues that moral education in the late 1990s is too abstract and would benefit from the adoption of the practical approach typical of biomedical ethics: "thinking with cases". The author explores various issues of moral epistemology and urges realism in ethics

This paper propounds a contract-theoretic model where dowry acts as a screening device to differentiate grooms of varying qualities. In 'arranged' marriage settings that are characterized by incomplete information in the sense that the true quality of the groom remains unobservable to the bride, and in the presence of observable traits like education that are easier for the better quality groom to achieve, education-dowry contracts can potentially serve as a screening instrument. Moreover, increasing dowry levels can be explained through increased educational attainments brought about by modernization and government policies. The paper also discusses historical and narrative evidences in support of its main hypotheses.

Since the end of World War II, nations have been characterized according to membership in various international power blocs, the Western World being used for capitalist countries and the Iron Curtain for socialist ones. Within these categories countries are also characterized according to level of economic (and sometimes political) development. The capitalist world recognizes two types of nations, the developed and the underdeveloped. In contrast, the socialist world presents a single development model characterized by centralized planning and homogeneous development.

The relevance of the chosen direction of research is determined by the need to improve the higher education system in accordance with the requirements of postmodernism (synergy of educational systems; non-linear construction of the educational process in order to take into account the needs of each individual, change in the nature of pedagogical interaction to ensure the symmetry of relations of all participants in the educational process, change in the status of knowledge and, as a result, the emergence of the need to improve professional competence throughout life, the orientation of education to actualizing the creative potential of future specialists, etc.). Based on the results of research by domestic and foreign scientists, the features of distance education, its advantages and disadvantages are established, which are taken into account in further scientific research. Required solutions in order to ensure high-quality distance education for music students, as well as identified topical issues: creation of an organizational model of distance learning; selection of appropriate means and tools, taking into account the peculiarities of professional training of music students, as well as substantiation of the system of methodological support of distance learning in accordance with the cycle of disciplines and the purpose of the educational program. It was noted that distance education makes it possible to introduce innovative technologies into the process of professional training of musicians, to build an individual educational trajectory, taking into account the needs of students.
This paper sought to comparatively interrogate the extent of achievement of quantitativevis-à-vis Quality education in Kenya. It also critically appraised the effect of various resources on the quality of Primary school education in Kenya. Globally, basic knowledge is recognized as the cornerstone of any country with a stable economy. Bearing in mind the role played by school in development, the UN general assembly in 1948 endorsed education as a fundamental human right. The main objective of the study was to analyze the influence of the democratization of education on the quality of primary school education. The paper examined the role played by UNESCO in the democratization of education globally and Africa in particular. The paper further assessed prospects that have arisen in Kenya due to the universalization of education. It further examined the challenges of universalization of education. It, therefore, focused on the issue of quality education after the attainment of EFA and UPE. It also analyzed difficulties that arise due to the upsurge of enrolment in primary schools and how they affect quality education in Kenya. Particular attention was given to the crises in inputs and processes that affect the output of quality primary education. These crises were reflected in class size, teacher establishment, and physical resources that influence quality education. The paper adopted a document analysis method. The analysis was drawn from international and local legal instruments on quantitative and qualitative primary school education. A regional analysis of the necessary education policies and the legal framework in Kenya was conducted. Studies conducted in Kenya on quantity and quality primary education were also examined. The interrogation would help the policy formulators formulate education policies and the legal framework, which would promote quantitative and qualitative primary school education. The policy implementers would understand and appreciate education policies. These are the policies within which ...

Contrary to the belief of most Kantians and Kant scholars, Kant is in fact an anarchist. In this paper, I distinguish sharply between two concepts of enlightenment, enlightenment lite and heavy duty or radical enlightement ; show how there is an unbridgeable gap between Kant's official political theory in The Doctrine of Right and his ethics; show how Kant's real political theory is worked out in Religion Within the Boundaries of Mere Reason, and is in fact a heavy-duty, radically enlightened version of anarchism; refute and debunk widely-believed Hobbesian assumptions about human nature, which are in fact nothing but cognitive illusions; and propose a de-biasing strategy in political aesthetics for ridding ourselves of these Hobbesian cognitive illusions. ; Robert Hanna is an independent philosopher, and Director of the Critique & Contemporary Kantian Philosophy project. He received his PhD from Yale University USA in 1989, and has held research or teaching positions at the University of Cambridge UK, the University of Colorado at Boulder USA, the University of Luxembourg LU, PUC-PR Brazil, Yale, and York University CA.

This is a Submitted Manuscript of an article published in Sport, Education and Society on 26 Sep 2014, available online: http://www.tandfonline.com/10.1080/13573322.2014.918878 ; Focussing on the ideological aspects of privatisation, this paper explores ways in which 'freedom' has been activated discursively to justify actions involving changes to both the structure and the content of formal education in the UK. Empirically, the paper will analyse examples in England of UK Government 'new provider' rhetoric relating to 'Academies' in order to address both the claims and the counterclaims made by governments, educational producers and others for the privatisation of education and physical education (PE) within it. The paper suggests that such changes may have significant implications not only for teachers of PE, but also the educational entitlements of pupils and specifically, their opportunities to enjoy a liberal, comprehensive, high-quality PE. Privatisation may also consolidate rather than help erode and eradicate existing social hierarchies and associated distributions of educational social and physical capital.
