The German-Austrian social theorist and philosopher Leo Kofler (1907-1995) represents what Oskar Negt once called ?unmutilated, living Marxism?. Throughout his life he dealt with issues of history and modernity, Marxist philosophy and the critique of ideology, philosophical anthropology and aesthetics. In this volume, author and Kofler biographer Christoph Jünke elucidates the contours of his philosophy of praxis, traces an arc from the socialist classics to postmodernism, and outlines the socialist humanist thinker?s enduring relevance. The book also includes six essays by Leo Kofler published in English for the first time.00The main work was first published in German as 'Leo Koflers Philosophie der Praxis: Eine Einführung in sein Denken' by Laika Verlag, 2015

The present article pretends to glimpse the "political and legal philosophy" of our patron, St. Thomas Aquino. Thus, emphasizing, the materialization of the plexus of values inculcated and promulgated by the State, under the interests of the inclusion of the "other", that is, to serve the collective good as "political animals" that we are and only Established by justice. The above remembering that Thomas Aquino is a current thinking, because: "Thomistic philosophy is a perennial philosophy, that is, to refer to that transsectal philosophy that always comes back and comes into contact with the new problems of each epoch and that is not displaced or definitively replaced by another (.) it is not only a historical reality, because it possesses a universal substance that surpasses the fashions of all times, although, without a doubt, it must cover in each restoration new problematizations or new languages "(Cárdenas Sierra & Guarín Ramírez, 2006, p.94 ). ) (External cursive text).
This book uncovers Kant's hidden theory of cosmopolitan education within the framework of his overall practical philosophy. The Kant brought out here turns out to be very different from current mainstream appropriations, which erroneously consider him one of the founding fathers of the 'new cosmopolitanism'. Kant's Embedded Cosmopolitanism is a valuable source for students of political philosophy, cosmopolitanism, and Kant's ethics.

"This book introduces students and other interested readers to the philosophy of religion: a vibrant and growing field of academic philosophy. Readers will be guided through an exploration of classic and contemporary arguments for and against theism. In addition to this crucial, but standard fare, this book looks to probe deeper into the nature and value (or dis-value) of religion itself. Philosophy of religion is becoming more diverse, both in terms of the religious traditions it examines, and the issues that it addresses. This book reflects that fact, engaging with religious traditions from Quakerism to Jainism. Questions and topics covered include: What is religion? What philosophical problems arise for the practices of prayer, worship, and meditation? How might multiple religions co-exist in peace? If there's a God, would it be the sort of thing that language could describe? When and how might it be rational to wager that a particular religion is true? With a glossary of key terms and suggestions for further reading, Philosophy of Religion: The Basics is an ideal starting point for anyone seeking a lively and accessible foray into the study of religion or philosophy"--
This volume brings together a group of 14 essays on five problems of freedom and nine philosophers, contributing to the history of philosophy, and offers a concise survey of the question of freedom. It approaches this question in several ways, exploring the problems of freedom, the freedom of philosophers, and the paradoxes of freedom. The topics of these essays were chosen because of a personal, but also universal, interest: the problem of freedom makes the human condition paradoxical. We always find ourselves faced with the same structure of this paradox: a freedom which cannot be freed from its relation to necessity. Freedom is, therefore, not really free. The paradox of freedom is, thus, that of the human condition: human freedom is as paradoxical as the human condition is incomprehensible.
