Allerdings waren die Ergebnisse für selbst- und peerberichtete Empathie nicht deckungsgleich. This study is unique in that it presents the first empirically developed framework for use as a tool for measuring historical empathy. The Historical Empathy Measurement Tool (HEMT) was developed using a design-based research method with three iterative macrocycles of design, experiment, and retrospective analysis. The study involved question responses from 276 students in grade 8 studying WWI trench warfare. The research resulted in a framework of seven levels. (0) Non-response, (1) Facts, (2) Assumptions and Deficits, (3) General Comparison of the Past and Present, (4) Emotional Comparison of the Past and Present, (5) Understanding Motives, Behaviors, Thoughts, & Emotions in the Past, and (6) Acknowledgement of Differences from those in the Past. The inter-rater reliability at the end of macrocycle three was 95%.

Empathy is putting oneself in another's emotional and cognitive shoes and then acting appropriately. The evolutionary process has given rise to a hard-wired neural system, described as?the most radical of human emotions, that equips us to connect with one another. But this critical connection has been short-circuited by the dynamic convergence of culture, politics and the brain under the hegemonic influence of neoliberal capitalism. The book explores this process through sections on education, the neoliberal state, neuromarketing, corporations, militarization, mass culture, film, photo images and media. How does the system blunt, bracket off and or otherwise channel empathy's revolutionary potential? What does this reveal about how the world works and especially, how it might work better? Empathy Imperiled offers a provocative, empirically grounded dissent from capitalism's narrative about human nature. It offers a unique perspective on our current political culture and process and as such it will appeal to students and scholars in political science, psychology, anthropology, and several related fields.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to explore salesperson empathy and the moderating impact of positive/negative affect on a salesperson's listening and adaptive selling behaviors. It also seeks to identify whether and how empathy influences performance.

Design/methodology/approach
The study's hypothesis was analyzed using data collected from business-to-business salespeople working for a manufacturing firm. A partial least squares analysis was used to test the study's proposed hypotheses.

Findings
The results of this study show that empathy and the moderating role of positive affect foster desirable sales behaviors (listening and adaptive selling behaviors) that subsequently enhance in-role (expected) and extra-role (discretionary) performance.

Originality/value
Contributions from the findings enhance the literature through its consideration of how the direct effect of empathy on sales behaviors (a salesperson's listening and adapting selling behavior) is moderated by the salesperson's positive and negative affect and how sales behaviors impact final sales outcomes (in-role and extra-role performance).

The actions of sentient vertebrates command our attention and inform our morality. Mikhalevich & Powell (2020) (M&P) argue that similar activities in a wide range of invertebrates with central nervous systems should do likewise. However, humans most readily empathize with creatures we recognize as similar in behavior, physiology, or appearance to ourselves. Helping humanity overcome this bias is a significant challenge for those who study invertebrates. Until this empathy gap is bridged, I believe few people and the policies they craft will afford invertebrates the moral standing that M&P argue they deserve. Therefore, I suggest those interested in raising appreciation for invertebrate minds should broaden the impact of their research findings. They should consider informing the lay public, especially children, through writing, speaking, and seeking non-traditional collaborations with artists, filmmakers, musicians, game developers, and others that affect popular culture.

This study aims to determine the effect of assertiveness and empathy on students' prosocial behavior at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Mulawarman University. This study uses quantitative methods using multiple regression analysis to determine how much influence and predictive ability the two independent variables have on the dependent variable. In this study, the subjects in this study were 100 students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Mulawarman University, using the accidental sampling method. Data collection methods used include assertiveness, empathy, and prosocial behavior scales. The collected data were analyzed with the help of SPSS 21.0 for the windows program. These results indicate a significant difference between assertiveness and empathy to prosocial behavior.

The health effects of intra-ethnic conflict include hatred and fear among neighbors and friends who have become enemies. The dehumanization of specific groups through concomitant stereotyping does not stop when conflicts end. The inability to see former enemies as real people impedes reconciliation. While much attention has been paid to the reconstruction of infrastructure and the establishment of rule of law, little thought has been given to what is required at the day to day level in order to restore a sense of interpersonal security. To reverse the destruction of social and familial networks that normally sustain health and well-being, a process of rehumanization must occur. We suggest that the promotion of empathy is a critical component of reconciliation.
