This paper presents the results of a study on socio-economic and demographic factors that
affect the intensity of right-wing radicals' activity in the framework of the Russian-based social network VKontakte. Right-wing radical ideas expressed within the VKontakte network are most actively supported by the population of the regional centres (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai) and areas around these centres, which are defined as the semi-periphery in the core-periphery model. The intensity of the online activity of right-wing radicals is mostly influenced by demographic factors, including the average age of the population, the net migration rate coefficient; however, it is not affected by the indicators of economic wellbeing. The authors hypothesise that support for right-wing radical ideology on social media is determined not by the objective characteristics of the social and economic well-being of the population, but by subjective emotional factors (irritation, feelings of social injustice).

Our article investigates political engagement among youth with and without an immigration background. Tapping to current debates on intergenerational assimilation processes in Europe, we look at differences in levels of political interest between immigrants, children of immigrants and natives. In particular, we argue that such differences are a function of respondents' identification with the receiving society. We predict that among respondents with an immigrant background higher levels of national identification will be positively correlated with political interest. Among natives, political interest will not depend on levels of national identification. These expectations reflect the ideas of the social identity perspective according to which group identification increases adherence to group norms and adherence to norms is stronger among individuals who suffer from identity uncertainty. We test our model in four European countries: England, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden, using data from the CILS4EU project. Our findings indicate that interest in the politics of the survey country differs between respondents with and without an immigrant background. Respondents with an immigrant background who also have a strong national identification are more likely to report a political interest than natives. Respondents with an immigrant background who have a low national identification, are less likely to report a political interest than natives. The findings also reveal that political discussions at home and associationism positively predict political interest whereas girls show significantly lower odds to be politically interested.

Political conflict is often described in terms of "left" and "right" even though societal conflicts stem from various sub-dimensions such as economic and cultural issues. We argue that individuals map parties' left-right positions based on party positions on such underlying dimensions, though their impact depends on their importance for parties and citizens. To test this, we study the German Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) whose programmatic appeal has changed fundamentally in the last years, as have citizens' issue concerns. Using longitudinal data from the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES), we find that citizens' perceptions of the AfD's left-right position are more closely related to the party's position on specific issues (1) when these issues are prominent in the party's communication and (2) for citizens that care more about these issues. Moreover, how voters perceive left and right in comparison to parties' issue emphasis also affects vote choice. Our findings have important implications for the meaning of left and right, electoral behaviour, representation, and party competition.

Trägt die Nutzung politischer Information im Internet zur Mobilisierung der Wählerinnen und Wähler bei? Dieser Frage geht diese Studie nach und vergleicht dabei Online-Quellen und Offline-Quellen der Wahlberechtigten wie auch ihre Involvierung in Wahl und Wahlkampf und ihre Wahlabsicht. Die bisherige Forschung dazu liefert uneinheitliche Ergebnisse. Das liegt auch daran, dass sie zumeist auf Daten und Analyse- verfahren beruht, die keine eindeutigen Aussagen zulassen. Im Unterschied dazu verwendet diese Studie ein neuartiges Analysemodell, das die Überprüfung von kausalen Beziehungen mit sehr viel mehr Evidenz ermöglicht als herkömmliche statistische Instrumente. Datenbasis ist eine dreiwellige Panelbefragung aus der Endphase des Bundestagswahlkampfs 2013. Theoretischer Ausgangspunkt ist Slaters Spiralmodell der Wechselwirkungen, das ein Konzept der Erie-County-Studie aus den 1940er Jahren weiterentwickelt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass offensichtlich ein Kernbefund der frühen Wahlforschung auch in der neuen Medienwelt gilt: Zwischen Informationsnutzung und Mobilisierung gibt es Wechselwirkungen und positive Rückkopplungen mit kumulativen Effekten. Diese Spiralprozesse sind für das Internet allerdings weniger deutlich ausgeprägt als für Offline-Quellen wie politische Gespräche in der Familie und Nachrichten im öffentlich-rechtlichen Fernsehen. Der Beitrag diskutiert mögliche Erklärungen dafür wie auch für Unterschiede zwischen einzelnen Indikatoren der Mobilisierung.

Das dritte chinesisch‐deutsche Forum fand im November 2018 in Beijing und Tianjin statt. Im Zentrum standen dabei Kreativität und Innovationsfähigkeit, insbesondere im Hinblick auf Bedeutung und Potenziale Kultureller Bildung. Der interkulturelle Dialog über Kernkonzepte Kultureller Bildung fordert in hohem Maße das Nachdenken über die eigenen tradierten Vorstellungen und Positionen heraus. Diese Herausforderung versucht der Artikel produktiv werden zu lassen. "Kreativität" ist in Kontexten der Kulturellen Bildung ein ausgesprochen beliebter Begriff. Im bundesdeutschen Diskurs der Kulturellen Bildung herrscht dabei ein spezifisches Verständnis von Kreativität, das von international gängigen Vorstellungen eher abweicht. Die historischen Wurzeln dieser uns eigenen, besonderen Lesart reichen tief in die Geschichte der modernen Pädagogik in Europa zurück. Sie schließen an reformpädagogische, heute aber auch an kritische Diskurse zu Kreativität und Innovation an, die auf Kreativität als etwas Drittes - jenseits von romantischen Innerlichkeitsvorstellungen einerseits und kapitalistischer Selbstvermarktung andererseits - nämlich als ein Spiel mit Regeln und Normen hinauslaufen. Dies erklärt teilweise deutliche Unterschiede im west‐östlichen Dialog, doch es zeigen sich auch Gemeinsamkeiten, die ein verstärktes gegenseitiges Kennenlernen und Voneinander‐Lernen wünschenswert erscheinen lassen.

Despite the social normalisation and moral de-problematisation of separation and divorce, they are usually anything but normal or unproblematic events for those affected. The events have to be ordered, the separation needs to be legitimised and one's own identity requires rehabilitation; this can result in striking narrative dynamics in qualitative interviews dealing with separation. Previous research has revealed the connection between the form, content, and function of separation talk as well as social differentiation: role, gender, and socio-structural factors. To the functional analyses of the narratives, of 46 interviews (23 ex-couples) in our study "Couples after separation", we add, as a further and superordinate differentiation, the category of social milieu. We exemplify our argument that separation talk varies depending on this dimension by exploring the contrasting individualised and traditional milieus. They differ in a fundamental way in their relationship models and corresponding separation legitimations, and in their plausibility strategies and in their conception of what constitutes a desirable identity. Beyond the concrete subject of separation and separation talk, we also touch on two important aspects of qualitative research: the differentiation of milieus and the relationship between performance and representation in interviews.

Wie sich Schulen im Spannungsfeld von lokaler Einbettung, nationalstaatlicher Funktionalisierung und den Handlungsanforderungen, die aus Gesellschaftsentwürfen der Globalisierung erwachsen, orientieren und pädagogisch-praktisch positionieren, untersuchen die Autorinnen in ihrem Beitrag anhand von Rekonstruktionen zu pädagogischen Entwürfen und der schulischen Bedeutung von Austauschprogrammen an zwei Schulen, die sich schulprogrammatisch an Konzepten globalen Lernens ausrichten. Die Autorinnen zeigen unterschiedliche Formen der Transnationalisierung schulischer Bildung in der Verortung der Schulen im Spannungsfeld von lokalen Bedingungen und Internationalisierungsprozessen auf. Dabei wird der Schüleraustausch an beiden Schulen als Kontext der Entwicklung transnationaler Bildungsräume entworfen, womit das Nationale als zentraler Bezugsrahm von Schule bestehen bleibt. Globalization and internationalization have therefore become major issues in political discussions, and are increasingly being adopted in education policy programs and school curricula. Global learning is, aside from education for sustainable development, one of the most important concepts in dealing with these requirements in a didactical way. Beside these curricular changes, internationalization has become a trend in the German educational system, and requires the development of school concepts to deal with topics like migration.
