Analysis of longitudinal data has detected exchanges between social behaviors, including attention to the media of mass communication, that are obscured by the magnitude of individual differences in cross-sectional data. In the past neither general "modes" of social activities nor multiple relationships among particular communication behaviors have been empirically demonstrated Cluster analysis has provided a technique for developing an inductive typology of modes of social activity, and a typology emerged from analysis which confirmed and extended the concepts of primary and secondary association and classified mass media in a third form of social association. Further analysis of multiple relationships among behaviors within and between such modes of activity provided heuristic findings in support of behavior exchange hypotheses. These findings synthesize existing perspectives on personal changes in communication behavior into a new paradigm for research.

Fenomena di masyarakat yang cukup menarik perhatian ialah acara Reuni Aksi 212 yang digelar pada 2 Desember 2018 di Monas, Jakarta. Menarik pada sisi jumlah massa, isu yang berkembang berkaitan dengan Islam dan politik menjelang pemilu 2019. Reuni Aksi 212 tersebut ditayangkan secara langsung oleh media TV One. Media ini disebut-sebut sebagai satu-satunya yang menayangkan acara Reuni 212 tersebut. Siaran langsung yang dilakukan TV One tersebut karena berbagai alasan yang melatarbelakanginya mulai dari kepentingan jurnalistik, politik, agama, maupun bisnis. TV One melalui siaran langsung tersebut memberikan tempat bagi umat Islam untuk menunjukan bagaimana Islam tersebut dalam Reuni Aksi 212. Representasi Islam dalam media berdasarkan Reuni Aksi 212 digambarkan melalui sebuah siaran langsung dalam program acara "Apa Kabar Indonesia Pagi". This media touted as the only that aired the 212 Reunion event. Live broadcasts conducted by the TV One for reasons that start from the interest of journalism, politics, religion and business. [spa] Esta tesis es una reflexión sobre la legitimidad del rol de la prensa en las sociedades actuales. Su principal objetivo es demostrar que pese a las críticas al trabajo de los medios de comunicación y a las suspicacias respecto de sus métodos, la función social que la prensa heredó de la teoría liberal es necesaria para la vida democrática. Y que en consecuencia, el ejercicio del periodismo no está deslegitimado sino que se ha producido una mala praxis. Por tanto, se propone reformular algunos conceptos de la teoría liberal para reinterpretar la función de la prensa y desde esa reinterpretación valorar y afrontar las malas prácticas y los desafíos éticos de la profesión periodística. El trabajo se articula en torno a tres grandes temas: en primer lugar, la valoración de la función legitimadora de la actividad, es decir, el derecho a la información. En segundo lugar, el marco ético desde donde pensar esta función: la ética discursiva de la mano de Jürgen Habermas y la teoría de la responsabilidad de Karl Otto Apel; y finalmente, los desafíos éticos de los agentes involucrados en el proceso informativo, entre los que se encuentran los periodistas, la empresa, el entorno y el ciudadano. Estos temas se desarrollan en cuatro capítulos. En el primero se revisa el origen liberal de la prensa con el objeto de abordar la fundamentación de su función y detectar las categorías morales de su interpretación. Se propone reposicionar el derecho a la información de los ciudadanos como el origen del cometido de la prensa. A su vez se constata que las categorías morales de entonces ya no son adecuadas para explicar el rol democrático de la prensa hoy y se propone actualizar sus significados. El segundo capítulo tiene como propósito encontrar un nuevo lugar desde dónde interpretar las categorías morales de la prensa, puesto que las heredadas por la teoría liberal no responden adecuadamente a los retos actuales. Para ello se analizaron dos propuestas democráticas vigentes de gran valor: la perspectiva pragmática de Richard Rorty y la propuesta discursiva de Jürgen Habermas. En ambos casos se extrajo de sus ideas sobre la vida democrática una función para la prensa con el propósito de aquilatar cuál responde de mejor manera a la función democratizadora de los medios y a los retos coyunturales. Al final del capítulo se explican las razones que hacen inclinarse por la propuesta de Habermas como la propicia para reinterpretar las categorías morales de la prensa y para indagar un nuevo marco ético para el trabajo de los medios de comunicación. La propuesta comunicativa aporta un método que se condice con la finalidad que la teoría liberal asignó a la prensa, a la vez que permite corregir problemáticas que se dan producto de las asimetrías de poder o de la búsqueda de intereses ajenos a los propiamente informativos. En el tercer capítulo se arguye por qué este nuevo marco ético podría girar en torno a la responsabilidad. La urgencia de responder por el deber de dar información de calidad a los ciudadanos y la propuesta discursiva hacen pensar que la teoría de la responsabilidad de Karl Otto Apel constituye una arista adecuada desde la cual desarrollar una propuesta ética para los medios y sus profesionales. La propuesta de Apel cuenta con la fundamentación última de la ética del discurso e incluye una norma fundamental de la responsabilidad referida a la historia. El planteamiento de Apel considera un principio de corresponsabilidad para todos los hombres en relación al descubrimiento de problemas morales relevantes y de su solución a través de discursos prácticos, lo que compatibiliza con la necesidad de abrir el discurso ético para afrontar la mala praxis y los conflictos que se producen en el trabajo informativo. El último capítulo analiza desde la perspectiva de la responsabilidad los retos que plantea la ética profesional del periodista, la ética de la empresa informativa y el sector profesional del periodismo. El trabajo concluye con unas propuestas concretas sobre la aplicabilidad de un marco ético como el descrito e identifica las limitaciones que surgieron durante la reflexión y que suponen nuevas vías de investigación. ; [eng] This thesis argues that the social role that the media inherited from liberal press theory is a necessary condition for democratic life. In this light, it is argued that rather than being discredited, journalism is immersed in malpractice. The thesis thus attempts to reformulate some fundamental concepts of liberal theory to reinterpret the role of the press to assess the nature and ethical challenges of journalism. The thesis is organised as follows. The first chapter reviews the liberal origin of the press to identify the moral categories of its interpretation. It suggests that the right to information be repositioned once more as the origin of the role of the press. At the same time, it argues that the former moral categories of the press are no longer adequate in addressing the democratic role of the press today and thus that its meanings should be updated. The second chapter aims to interpret the moral categories of the press from two different perspectives: Richard Rorty's pragmatism and Jürgen Habermas discursive ethics. In both cases, the role of the press is interpreted from their ideas about democratic life to appraise how these align with the democratic function of the media as well as its current challenges. Based on this outcome and from the perspective of Habermas's discursive approach,,the third chapter analyses Karl Otto Apel's theory of responsibility to develop an ethical approach to the media and their professionals. Apel's approach considers a principle of co-responsibility for human beings in relation to the discovery of relevant moral problems and their solution through practical discourse, which reconciles the need to confront the malpractice and ethical conflicts that commonly afflict the domain of journalism. From this perspective of responsibility, the last chapter analyses the ethical challenges of journalism professionals, of mass media as well as the professional environment of journalism. The thesis concludes with a series of normative proposals regarding the applicability of the suggested ethical framework.
В статье анализируется образ России в электронной качественной и массовой прессе Республики Болгария в период продолжения «украинского кризиса» и продления санкций. Рассматриваются темы, связанные с Россией, к которым обращено внимание СМИ, изучаются образные ряды текстов, из которых складывается образ российского государства. Публикации дают возможность проанализировать, как период продолжения кризиса и продления санкций влияет на образ России. Показано, что в целом Россия предстает как государство, связанное с манипуляцией, ограничением свободы, пропагандой и ядерной угрозой. ; The article analyses the image of Russia in the electronic quality and mass press of the Republic of Bulgaria in the period of the continuation of the "Ukrainian crisis" and the prolongation of the sanctions. The topics connected with Russia, to which the attention of the mass media is drawn, are examined, the image rows of the texts are studied, from which the image of the Russian state is formed. The publications give an opportunity to analyze, how the period of the crisis continuation and the prolongation of the sanctions influences the image of Russia. It is shown that on the whole Russia appears as a state connected with manipulation, restraint of liberty, propaganda and nuclear threat.
Council newspapers form an integral part of European media systems and, as such, have been analysed for their important contribution to the development of local politics. However, despite a recognition of the media's important democratic function in the transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) after the fall of socialism, the consideration of council newspapers' political role in the Czech Republic and Slovakia have been largely absent in debates surrounding the development of regulatory frameworks until recently. Interestingly, debates regarding local government transparency emerged recently (2011) in the United Kingdom, resulting in the Code of recommended practice on local authority publicity, underscoring the importance of this issue. However, developments in the aforementioned situations demonstrate divergent outcomes in such considerations: the British addressed the causes, the Czechs addressed the symptoms, and the Slovaks have yet to make any headway. This article utilizes qualitative analysis of policy and regulation documents to compare the trajectories of media policy and regulation of council publicity in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, ultimately contrasting it with developments in the UK, suggesting possible future trajectories for the development of this type of regulation in the CEE countries. The article reveals the specific of the spiritual and value identification in the discourse of media which is defined with the amount of presence of national and cosmopolitan components. The cosmopolitan texts are twice as many, though they carry different cognitive and semantic mechanisms of spiritual and value field model. The quality press represents both national and cosmopolitan components through a rich variety of cultural artifacts involved in existential and intellectual personal reflection. Due to this a high degree of abstraction of national and spiritual meanings is reached with the focus on the most important vital beginnings. The mass editions present national and spiritual meanings through the narrow and expected circle of traditional cultural signs, so they form the identity through copying of national historical symbols and nationally meaning ideas. The cosmopolitan component is objectified through the culture of contemporary consumption as the unifying stimulus.
The article is devoted to the analysis of the draft Law of Ukraine "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine concerning ensuring national information security and the right to access reliable information". The document was published for public discussion on January 20 this year by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine.A careful law analysis by information sphere professionals, not officials, shows that we are dealing with an amazing mix of Soviet approaches to combating dissidents and a modern, innovative approach to making money on penalties from unscrupulous information disseminators. The creation of a state-funded staff of the Media Oversight Commissioner poses a particular threat to freedom of speech in Ukraine. After all, any structure is not physically able to investigate the entire array of disseminated information. Therefore, in practice, there will be a temptation to apply selective control only over some inconvenient for authorities information disseminators.The adoption of this normative legal act will lead to unjustified restrictions on information dissemination and freedom of speech, will force to once again give humiliating explanations in the advisory bodies of the Council of Europe on compliance with European standards and values.As a result, reputational losses for Ukraine, as a country that, although struggling, paves the way to a civilized Europe, in the case of this project adoption will far outweigh the damage from the spread of any fakes, most of which die before they are born. ; Стаття присвячена аналізу проєкту Закону України «Про внесення змін до деяких законодавчих актів України щодо забезпечення національної інформаційної безпеки та права на доступ до достовірної інформації». During Álvaro Uribe's second term in power, diplomatic relations between Colombia and Venezuela were marked by severe difficulties that triggered several crises. With the arrival of Juan Manuel Santos to power, however, these difficulties seem to have been resolved unexpectedly fast. Hence, rather than being a crisis caused by some structural aspects of bilateral relations, the dispute was about misunderstandings and tensions that can be linked to specific dynamics of the relationship between Hugo Chávez and Álvaro Uribe. The authors use the concept of political spectacle proposed by Edelman (1988) in order to examine the relationship in question. From this perspective, the unsuccessful attempt to reach a humanitarian agreement with the mediation of Hugo Chávez that took place during the second half of 2007 can be considered as the first relevant event to analyze in the Venezuelan and Colombian leaders' conflictive interactions at the time. The article examines the way in which the political developments of this period were interpreted and transmitted by the El Tiempo newspaper immersed in a political spectacle that was based on a government-media relationship and aimed at generating support of the government in the public opinion through the symbolic use of the kidnapping issue. ; Durante el segundo mandato de Álvaro Uribe Vélez, los presidentes de Colombia y Venezuela entraron en un período de desencuentro que generó grandes fisuras en sus relaciones diplomáticas y desencadenó distintas crisis. Con la llegada de Juan Manuel Santos a la Presidencia de Colombia, el conflicto parece haberse resuelto de una forma inesperadamente rápida. Lo anterior supone que, más que una crisis colombo-venezolana basada exclusivamente en aspectos estructurales de la relación, los desencuentros y tensiones del período especificado responden a dinámicas propias de la relación entre Álvaro Uribe y Hugo Chávez. El concepto del espectáculo político propuesto por Edelman (1988) permite abordar el análisis de las relaciones entre estos mandatarios desde una perspectiva poco utilizada en la literatura latinoamericana. El fallido acuerdo humanitario y la mediación de Hugo Chávez en la segunda mitad de 2007 se pueden considerar como la primera coyuntura relevante por analizar desde este concepto en la trayectoria de conflicto que experimentaron ambos presidentes en ese entonces. El artículo analiza la forma en la cual los desarrollos políticos de este período fueron interpretados y transmitidos por el periódico El Tiempo de un modo determinado, como parte de un espectáculo político que, apoyado en la relación gobierno-medios, estaba encaminado a generar apoyo político en la opinión pública, a través del uso simbólico del tema del secuestro.
El artículo comienza por una revisión exhaustiva de las investigaciones existentes sobre el rol de la sociedad civil en la transición democrática de España. Aportan visiones confrontadas entre la desmovilización y el resurgimiento de la sociedad civil como agente de presión en las decisiones políticas. Asimismo, este trabajo aporta investigación inédita sobre el tema utilizando una metodología de análisis de contenido para cuantificar las distintas formas de protesta social reflejadas en la prensa de Sevilla, entre 1975 y 1977. El análisis diferencia entre obreros, estudiantes, vecinos, artistas y ciudadanos. También cuantifica el flujo de noticias y los formatos de protesta (huelga- manifestación o nivel alto; y discurso-asociación o nivel bajo). Los resultados confirman el protagonismo de la sociedad civil en impulsar el cambio democrático en España, detallando la evolución de la protesta por sectores, flujos y formatos. Y se discute el papel de los medios de comunicación en estos procesos de cambio social. ; This paper begins with an exhaustive review of existing investigations on the role of the civil society in the democratic transition of Spain. They contribute visions confronted between demobilization and the reappearance of civil society as an agent of pressure in political decisions. Additionally, this work presents information from unpublished investigations on this topic using a content analysis methodology to quantify the different forms of social protest reflected in the press of Seville between 1975 and 1977. The analysis identifies differences among workers, students, neighbors, artists and citizens. Also, it quantifies the flow of news and the formats of protest (strike - demonstration or high level; and speech - association or low level). The results confirm the importance of civil society in stimulating democratic change in Spain, detailing the evolution of protest by sectors, flows and formats. And, the role of mass media in these processes of social change is discussed
