This article investigates the cultural memory of the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade in Britain. It examines official government responses and considers how these were replicated in popular culture, drawing on the film Amazing Grace. The study highlights the rhetoric employed to distance the past of the transatlantic slave trade from the present, thereby contributing to a process of historical erasure rather than tackling the lingering social and political affects of a traumatic past.

This commentary evaluates the use of beheadings by the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. We place beheadings in a broader historical context and draw from academic research in terrorism studies and the social sciences to explain why the Islamic State has adopted such brutal tactics. We outline the strategic logic of beheading and evaluate explanations related to symbolic politics, culture, and organizational dynamics. We conclude with a discussion about the future of Islamic State violence.

This paper describes the urgency of the meaning of zakat in the welfare of the peoples. The existence of charity is not only for the individual normative duty, but also contains a social meaning in the context of collective responsibility that invol­ving some subjects such as muzakki, amyl, mustahik, and government. In practical terms, the obligation of zakat management in a professional manner, at least must be supported by three aspects, namely the aspect of substance, structure, and culture.

The concept of ambivalence in U.S. queer studies has tended to be less a subject of enquiry in itself and more a component of, or catalyst for, broader arguments about how heteronormative culture shapes, restricts,and challenges queer subjectivities. In this article I explore threeforms of ambivalence in order to argue that the foregrounding of publicly ambivalent positions is essential for renegotiating what it means to be queer in an age of respectability politics and conditional mainstream acceptance.

African Nationalism was a multifaceted political movement that has had different origins, developments and outgoings considering the complexity of cultures, religions, natural environments and ethnicities of this immense continent. It's of course inappropiate to talk about "African Nationalism", as an identical and common phenomenon that brought to the independence from Colonialism in each state. As for Nationalism in Europe, it had its own specificity in at least the main big areas of North, West, East and South of Africa.

Abstract
The Internet and social networking technologies have facilitated communication between groups of retrophiles or fans of the past. The article seeks to examine motivations for retrophilic action and to discuss these ideas within the present late capitalist culture. The article discusses how retrophiles seem to use the past in order to (re)construct their individual and collective identities and it examines two recent media representations that present retrophiles in discourses of consumption and acquisition.
