[eng] This presentation analyses the linguistic conformity¿or the acceptance¿whether symbolic or not, of the political linguistic rules that European languages such as French and Spanish, on the one hand, and Catalan on the other hand, have seen since the 18th century. Some of the prejudices that bodies of power have had towards Catalan, as well as their resulting consequences, will be covered, as will language policies that have survived to today and which are present in the mass media.
International audience This article discusses the communication strategies employed by 8 school shooters who used participatory media to frame their acts as well as their identity. By resorting to content analysis of 78 self-produced videos and 101 portraits, the findings show how audiovisual communication can be used to trigger the performative aspects of cultural scripts of contemporary forms of expressive violence and thus institutionalize a social movement (i.e. school shooting subculture). The article is devoted to the analysis of the draft Law of Ukraine "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine concerning ensuring national information security and the right to access reliable information". The document was published for public discussion on January 20 this year by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine.A careful law analysis by information sphere professionals, not officials, shows that we are dealing with an amazing mix of Soviet approaches to combating dissidents and a modern, innovative approach to making money on penalties from unscrupulous information disseminators. The creation of a state-funded staff of the Media Oversight Commissioner poses a particular threat to freedom of speech in Ukraine. After all, any structure is not physically able to investigate the entire array of disseminated information. Therefore, in practice, there will be a temptation to apply selective control only over some inconvenient for authorities information disseminators. The adoption of this normative legal act will lead to unjustified restrictions on information dissemination and freedom of speech, will force to once again give humiliating explanations in the advisory bodies of the Council of Europe on compliance with European standards and values. As a result, reputational losses for Ukraine, as a country that, although struggling, paves the way to a civilized Europe, in the case of this project adoption will far outweigh the damage from the spread of any fakes, most of which die before they are born. During Álvaro Uribe's second term in power, diplomatic relations between Colombia and Venezuela were marked by severe difficulties that triggered several crises. With the arrival of Juan Manuel Santos to power, however, these difficulties seem to have been resolved unexpectedly fast. Hence, rather than being a crisis caused by some structural aspects of bilateral relations, the dispute was about misunderstandings and tensions that can be linked to specific dynamics of the relationship between Hugo Chávez and Álvaro Uribe. The authors use the concept of political spectacle proposed by Edelman (1988) in order to examine the relationship in question. From this perspective, the unsuccessful attempt to reach a humanitarian agreement with the mediation of Hugo Chávez that took place during the second half of 2007 can be considered as the first relevant event to analyze in the Venezuelan and Colombian leaders' conflictive interactions at the time. The article examines the way in which the political developments of this period were interpreted and transmitted by the El Tiempo newspaper immersed in a political spectacle that was based on a government-media relationship and aimed at generating support of the government in the public opinion through the symbolic use of the kidnapping issue.
New perspectives on women's print media in interwar Britain by experts in media, literary and cultural history. This collection of new essays recovers and explores a neglected archive of women's print media and dispels the myth of the interwar decades as a retreat to 'home and duty' for women. Women produced magazines and periodicals ranging in forms and appeal from highbrow to popular, private circulation to mass-market and radical to reactionary. The 1920s and 1930s gave rise to a plurality of new challenges and opportunities for women as consumers, workers and citizens, as well as wives and mothers. By restoring to view and analysing the print media which served as the vehicles for debates about the arts, modern life, politics, economics and women's roles in all these spheres, this collection makes a major contribution to revisionist scholarship on the interwar period.

This article deals with the processes of penetration of loanwords from English into French. Attention has been devoted to this fact that influence of mass-media upon language development is very noticeable today. New lexical units that entered to the language by media channels are consolidating solidly in it and are the part of vocabulary of native speakers of French. Texts of on-line editions reflect not only language practice of a lot of social groups of the language society but only frequently develop an active vocabulary of the society, spread new loanwords and promote their adaptation in the language. The peculiarities of the cyber world have a special influence on the language of the on-line media. Firstly owing to the fact of the language democratization in Internet positive processes are observed that minimize the usage of different kind of bureaucratic words and clichés in the journalistic published works. Secondly, the growing of conversational style in materials presenting provokes some journalists to use an inappropriate language means that go beyond the standard of French literary language. A considerable layer of French internet editions voсabulary is formed by borrowings and especially English ones. Innovation technologies cause the penetration of new anglicisms into language where they can function a great while by taking shape by means of French language. References Vainraikh, Uriel. 1979. ; This contribution discusses implicit and explicit conceptionalizations of society that are being maintained in communication research and what is meant by the notion of social integration by the media. It is often assumed that society is held together by common values - a conception that is also often evoked in popular discussions on the integration of migrants. Integration by the media is often thought of as effected by common topics or the tendency towards conformity due to medially constructed climates of opinion. Such a "communitarian" view of society rooted in consensuality is - despite important differences - also the basis of right-wing populism. This somewhat provocative comparison might stimulate a criticial reflection which other (descriptive and normative) theories of society one might turn to - theories that imply a variety of mechanisms of integration and provide a framework to deal with differentiated and conflicting values.
The last decade in Ecuador was marked by the media-political dispute between the former President of the Republic, Rafael Correa, and the private media that became political actors. With the arrival in 2017 of the new president Lenín Moreno (a successor of Correa himself), Ecuador faced a change not only of leader, but also a sharp turn in national politics. The conservative political and economic forces, adversaries during Correa's presidency, became Moreno allies. In this context, the mass media also turned from being adversaries and contesting Correa's political field to become Moreno's allies. This article presents a comparative analysis of the way in which two of the main media framed the social reactions to different economic measures: the inheritance and capital gains laws of Correa (2015) and the Decree 883 of Moreno (2019). It involves the analyze of two newspapers, El Telégrafo (public) and El Comercio (private), since they allow to identify the differences between the media based on their legal nature in each period.

Council newspapers form an integral part of European media systems and, as such, have been analysed for their important contribution to the development of local politics. However, despite a recognition of the media's important democratic function in the transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) after the fall of socialism, the consideration of council newspapers' political role in the Czech Republic and Slovakia have been largely absent in debates surrounding the development of regulatory frameworks until recently. Interestingly, debates regarding local government transparency emerged recently (2011) in the United Kingdom, resulting in the Code of recommended practice on local authority publicity, underscoring the importance of this issue. However, developments in the aforementioned situations demonstrate divergent outcomes in such considerations: the British addressed the causes, the Czechs addressed the symptoms, and the Slovaks have yet to make any headway. This article utilizes qualitative analysis of policy and regulation documents to compare the trajectories of media policy and regulation of council publicity in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, ultimately contrasting it with developments in the UK, suggesting possible future trajectories for the development of this type of regulation in the CEE countries.
