Most of the current video production practices are focusing on filming, editing, storytelling or special effects, and the articles on video production also put the emphasis on tourism, business or natural scenery. There are not many video production practices on topics such as hospice, because this topic involves death, illness, patients and their families and other factors, and most of these film subjects are not willing to be shot. This research aims to explore the impact of filming practices on sensitive topics on the producers and the filmed subjects. By selecting the hospice care documentaries produced by Zhejiang Communication University as a case study, this study interviews 8 documentary producers and 8 filmed subjects and researchs the whole filming process through method of participatory observation. This research demonstrates that for hospice documentary filmmakers, going through such a filmmaking journey can be helpful in increasing their level of identification with hospice care, increasing their emotional experience and documentary production skills, and most importantly for their future documentary filmmaking, as they feel the power of humanity. For the subjects, i.e. patients, families, doctors and nurses, end-of-life care documentaries have expanded the dissemination of knowledge to a certain extent, but the impact on the behavioural choices of patients at the moment of death has not been significant, and these behavioural choices are more influenced by non-medical factors which the filmmakers are clearly aware of it. Instead, these filming activities were somewhat of an optional burden on filmed subjects.

Das Thema Kinderhospiz ist noch relativ jung, aber brandaktuell. Jährlich eröffnen bundesweit mehrere ambulante und stationäre Kinderhospize. Was geschieht aber nun wirklich in einem Kinderhospiz? Welche Voraussetzungen muss man erfüllen, um als Ehrenamtlicher dort mitarbeiten zu können? Wie reagieren Eltern darauf, wenn sie erfahren, dass ihr Kind lebensbedrohlich erkrankt ist? Sollen sie ihrem Kind die Wahrheit sagen - oder lieber schweigen? Welche Probleme beschäftigen die erkrankten Kinder und Jugendlichen? Wie stellen sie sich den Tod oder das Leben nach dem Tod vor? Welche Hilfen gibt es für die Erziehungsberechtigten? Wie trauern Frauen, Männer oder Geschwister? Sollten Kinder an einer Bestattung teilnehmen? Dieses Buch richtet sich an alle, die bereits Abschied von einem geliebten Angehörigen nehmen mussten und solche, denen so ein Abschied noch bevorsteht oder die beruflich mit dem Thema zu tun haben. Die Autorin geht einfühlsam mit allen Aspekten um, die sich beim Themenkomplex "Kind - Sterben, Tod, Trauer" ergeben.

This article is based on research undertaken for the degree of Doctor of Ministry. Its focus is the investigation of two phenomena raised by members of hospice staff as impediments to the delivery of spiritual care. These are the problems of discerning the spiritual aspect of interventions with patients, and the apprehension staff feel in being faced with the prospect of meeting those needs for which they consider themselves unprepared. These two phenomena were tested by sharing with staff, six pastoral conversations and recording the degree to which they were able to pick up the spiritual content of the conversation. The research discovered that staff, although highly motivated, do not always have the confidence or the knowledge to address the spiritual needs of patients at an appropriate level of sophistication.

Background. One of the priority directions of scientific research in the field of social medicine and health care organization is the analysis and scientific substantiation of the development and implementation of an optimal legal and regulatory framework. This is one of the main conditions for the creation and development of an affordable, high-quality and efficient Palliative and Hospice Care (PHC) System, the formation of a state policy for the development and maintenance of PHC. Purpose: a systematic analysis of the current Ukrainian legal acts, that regulates the PHC provision to the population. Materials and methods. Legislative and regulatory documents, scientific literature, medical statistics were analysed. System approach and system analysis, content analysis, medical-statistical method were used. Results. The analysis of the current legal acts on the PHC provision has shown that over the past decades, the state pay particular attention to the establishment and development of the PHC system, and today there is no systematic, coordinative and consistent in Ukraine approach to this work. It is shown that current legislative and regulatory acts are often not coordinated among themselves, have significant deficiencies. Ukrainian legal system does not have separate (special, profile) laws that would regulate the PHC and palliative nursing provision, the observance of the rights of Palliative Patients (PP) and members of their families, despite the fact that about 1.5-2 million of our compatriots require such care every year. There is a significant need to develop new and improve existing legislative and regulatory documents, in particular, urgently to supplement and improve the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (MOHU) dated January 21, 2013, No. 41 "On the Organization of Palliative Care in Ukraine", taking into account the tasks and requirements of reforming the health care system in Ukraine, and to provide this order the format of "The Procedure for the Provision of Palliative and Hospice Medical Care to the Population in Ukraine and the List of Medical Counseling for its Provision". It is also necessary to approve the Standards for the Provision of PHC and Palliative Care, including those for children. Adoption of a separate Law regulating the PHC provision in Ukraine, as well as the State Program for the Development of Palliative Care and the Strategy for the Development of Palliative Care in Ukraine until the year 2027. Conclusions. A PHC System is establishing in Ukraine, the functioning of which is regulated by the relevant laws and subordinate normative legal acts. It needs to be improved in terms of coordinating the activities of interested ministries and agencies, detailing certain provisions and unifying terminology. It is advisable to develop and adopt a separate Law regulating the PHC and palliative nursing provision in Ukraine, observance of PPs and their family members rights, taking into account the experience of developed countries. This requires further scientific analysis, justification and drafting of such a Law and the State Program for the Development of Palliative Care in Ukraine. It is necessary to approve by the MOHU Standards for the PHC provision, including for children, in order to improve the PHC quality for PPs of all age groups. Prospects for further research are the implementation of comprehensive medical and social studies aimed at developing and implementing affordable, high-quality and effective, medical-social and economically-optimal PHC and palliative nursing models in Ukraine. ; Актуальность. Одним из приоритетных направлений научных исследований в области социальной медицины и организации здравоохранения является анализ и научное обоснование разработки и внедрения оптимальной нормативно-правовой базы (НПБ). Это является одним из главных условий создания и развития доступной, качественной и эффективной системы паллиативной и хосписной помощи (ПХП), формирование государственной политики развития и поддержки служб ПХП и паллиативного ухода. Цель: системный анализ действующей НПБ Украины, регламентирующей оказание ПХП населению. Материалы и методы. Анализировали законодательные и нормативно-правовые документы, научная литература, медико-статистические данные. Применяли методы системного подхода и системного анализа, контент-анализ, медико-статистический метод. Результаты. Анализ действующей НПБ по вопросам оказания ПХП показал, что за последние десятилетия государство уделяет определенное внимание созданию и развитию системы ПХП, но сегодня в Украине отсутствует системность, координированность и преемственность этой работы. Показано, что действующие законодательные и нормативно-правовые акты часто не согласованы между собой, имеют существенные недостатки. Выявлено, что украинская НПБ сегодня не имеет отдельных (специальных профильных) законов, регламентирующих оказание ПХП и паллиативного ухода, соблюдение прав паллиативных ппациентов (ПП) и членов их семей, несмотря на то, что в такой помощи ежегодно нуждаются около 1,5-2 млн. наших соотечественников. Доказано, что существует значительная потребность в разработке новых и совершенствовании действующих законодательных и нормативно-правовых документов, в частности необходимо срочно дополнить и усовершенствовать приказ МЗ Украины от 21.01.2013 № 41 «Об организации паллиативной помощи в Украине», в контексте задач и требований реформирования системы здравоохранения в Украине. Предложено усовершенствованный формат этого приказа с названием «Порядок оказания паллиативной и хосписной медицинской помощи населению в Украине и Перечень медицинских показаний для ее оказания». Обосновано необходимость утверждения МЗ Украины стандартов оказания ПХП и паллиативного ухода, в т. ч. детям, и принятие отдельного закона, который бы регламентировал оказание ПХП в Украине, а также Государственной программы развития паллиативной помощи и Стратегии развития паллиативной помощи в Украине на период до 2027 года. Выводы. В Украине создается система оказания ПХП населению, функционирование которой регулируется соответствующими законами и подзаконными нормативно-правовыми актами. Последние требуют усовершенствования в части координации деятельности заинтересованных министерств и ведомств, детализации отдельных положений и унификации терминологии. Целесообразно, учитывая пример развитых стран мира, разработать и принять отдельный закон, который бы регламентировал оказание ПХП и паллиативного ухода в Украине, соблюдение прав ПП и членов их семей. Это требует дальнейшего научного анализа, обоснования и разработки проекта такого закона и Государственной Программы развития паллиативной помощи в Украине. Необходимо утверждение МОЗ Украины стандартов оказания ПХП, в т. ч. для детей, с целью повышения качества ПХП всем возрастным группам населения. Перспективы дальнейших научных исследований заключаются в проведении комплексных медико-социальных исследований с целью разработки и внедрения доступной, качественной и эффективной, медико-социальных и экономически оптимальных моделей ПХД и паллиативного ухода в Украине. ; Актуальність. Одним з пріоритетних напрямів наукових досліджень у галузі соціальної медицини і організації охорони здоров'я є аналіз та наукове обґрунтування розробки і впровадження оптимальної нормативно-правової бази (НПБ). Це є однією з головних умов створення і розвитку доступної, якісної та ефективної системи паліативної та хоспісної допомоги (ПХД), формування державної політики розвитку і підтримки служб ПХД та паліативного догляду. Мета: системний аналіз чинної НПБ України, що регламентує надання ПХД населенню. Матеріали та методи. Аналізували законодавчі та нормативно-правові документи, наукова література, медико-статистичні дані. Використовували методи системного підходу і системного аналізу, контент-аналізу, медико-статистичний метод. Результати. Аналіз чинної НПБ з питань надання ПХД засвідчив, що впродовж останніх десятиліть держава приділяє певну увагу створенню та розвитку системи ПХД, але сьогодні в Україні відсутня системність, координованість та наступність цієї роботи. Показано, що діючі законодавчі та нормативно-правові акти часто не узгоджені між собою, мають суттєві недоліки. Виявлено, що українська НПБ сьогодні не має окремих (спеціальних, профільних) законів, які б регламентували надання ПХД і паліативного догляду, дотримання прав паліативних пацієнтів (ПП) та членів їх сімей, попри те, що такої допомоги щороку потребують близько 1,5–2 млн наших співвітчизників. Доведено, що існує потреба у розробці нових і удосконаленні чинних законодавчих і нормативно-правових документів, зокрема, наказу МОЗ України від 21.01.2013 № 41 «Про організацію паліативної допомоги в Україні», в контексті завдань та вимог реформування системи охорони здоров'я в Україні. Запропоновано удосконалений формат цього наказу під назвою «Порядок надання паліативної і хоспісної медичної допомоги населенню в Україні та Перелік медичних показань для її надання». Обгрунтовано необхідність затвердження МОЗ України стандартів надання ПХД, у т. ч. дітям, та прийняття окремого закону, який би регламентував надання ПХД в Україні, а також Державної Програми розвитку паліативної допомоги і Стратегії розвитку паліативної допомоги в Україні на період до 2027 року. Висновки. В Україні створюється система надання ПХД населенню, функціонування якої регулюється відповідними законами та підзаконними нормативно-правовими актами. Останні потребують удосконалення в частині координації діяльності зацікавлених міністерств і відомств, деталізації окремих положень та уніфікації термінології. Доцільно, враховуючи приклад розвинених країн світу, розробити і прийняти окремий закон, який би регламентував надання ПХД і паліативного догляду в Україні, дотримання прав ПП та членів їх сімей. Це потребує подальшого наукового аналізу, обґрунтування та розробки проекту такого закону та Державної Програми розвитку паліативної допомоги в Україні. Необхідно затвердження МОЗ України стандартів надання ПХД, у т. ч. для дітей, з метою підвищення якості ПХД усім віковим групам населення. Перспективи подальших наукових досліджень полягають у проведенні комплексних медико-соціальних досліджень з метою розробки та впровадження доступної, якісної та ефективної, медико-соціальної і економічно оптимальних моделей ПХД і паліативного догляду в Україні.

Within the field of palliative care recent years have seen a marked increase in chaplaincy provision, and a widening debate on how all healthcare professionals have the potential to provide spiritual care. This article gives a summary of a study day that brought together a wide range of healthcare professionals from hospices and hospitals in Scotland to discuss ways to integrate spiritual care and chaplaincy into the current settings and practice of palliative care. It draws conclusions and offers local and national agendas to take initiatives forward and sets challenges for the host organisation The Association of Hospice Chaplains in Scotland

This article addresses the increasing interest in end of life care and the need for improving access to palliative care services in patients/families served by the home care industry. The author discusses factors leading to this growing demand as well as some of the recent research conducted in the field of palliative care. The benefits of and underutilization of hospice services are discussed. The author addresses a variety of options for home care providers to consider expanding access to palliative care services including recent changes in regulation that allow for collaboration with Medicare certified hospice programs. A discussion of key topics to include in staff development initiatives related to palliative care is included as are education and clinical practice resources.

BACKGROUND: Palliative care is an important component of health care in pandemics, contributing to symptom control, psychological support, and supporting triage and complex decision making. AIM: To examine preparedness for, and impact of, the COVID-19 pandemic on hospices in Italy to inform the response in other countries. DESIGN: Cross-sectional telephone survey, in March 2020. SETTING: Italian hospices, purposively sampled according to COVID-19 regional prevalence categorised as high (>25), medium (15–25) and low prevalence (<15) COVID-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. A brief questionnaire was developed to guide the interviews. Analysis was descriptive. RESULTS: Seven high, five medium and four low prevalence hospices provided data. Two high prevalence hospices had experienced COVID-19 cases among both patients and staff. All hospices had implemented policy changes, and several had rapidly implemented changes in practice including transfer of staff from inpatient to community settings, change in admission criteria and daily telephone support for families. Concerns included scarcity of personal protective equipment, a lack of hospice-specific guidance on COVID-19, anxiety about needing to care for children and other relatives, and poor integration of palliative care in the acute planning response. CONCLUSION: The hospice sector is capable of responding flexibly and rapidly to the COVID-19 pandemic. Governments must urgently recognise the essential contribution of hospice and palliative care to the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure these services are integrated into the health care system response. Availability of personal protective equipment and setting-specific guidance is essential. Hospices may also need to be proactive in connecting with the acute pandemic response.

In recent years, hospice and palliative care (HPC) has grown, developed, and changed in response to the humanistic and social needs for supporting those with incurable illnesses. As a relatively new discipline, research is needed in HPC, and the priority setting of research is essential to help direct finite resources to support research. To promote creative research in different fields including HPC, the Taiwan government subsidized institutions to conduct research. In this study, we obtained data from the Government Research Bulletin, an open-source online system containing complete information about government subsidized studies since 1993 to investigate the development of research priority in HPC in Taiwan. In total, 552 studies were recorded during 1993–2021, with a continued upward trend. An association was found between research priority and the promulgation of new HPC regulations. The type of diseases in research extended from cancer to all advanced chronic conditions. The increased diversity in out-of-hospital settings of palliative research was also observed. Numerous studies have focused on education, and the theme gradually shifted from "training and education for healthcare professionals" to "public education". Here, the results may serve as a basis to understand the commonalities of research and enhance dialog in HPC research.

The study of "the end of life" has become a major focus on medicine, the social sciences, ethics, and religion.
