; This dissertation is about the historical method and the person of the Livonian historian and jurist F.K. Gadebusch, seen in the context of both his historical works and concerning the Age of Enlightenment; the emphasis does not lie on a person's history but on the development of concepts of writing history. At first it deals with research of the historical areas of Gadebusch's work and its correlations to political and social activity in his time. This is done by looking at historical incidents and by means of juristical and social-historical access. All of these approcaches to history have to be seen from the perspective of the historian of our time and as a reflection of current political arguments on governorship-constitution in Gadebusch's time. For him the concept of patriotism gains a local-patriotic internalization, when looking at the history of his own town, Dorpat. Nevertheless, the topics of Hanse, the history of religious orders and the period of the Reformation are also included in his work. This leads to the reception of Gadebusch's work both by his contemporaries and by later generations. In this context the question of a culture of memory and the function of writing history in general is important. History has to become memory; in achieving this historical sources and historical literature have a justifying function. Gadebusch conceives history and jurisprudence as being closely connected and wants to create a provincial identity for Livonia through this and, in addition to this, by means of regional biographical works. In this sense, he wishes to achieve, that the Livonian class system can get a new horizon of meaning, the useful fundament of which could be the experience of common history strictly influenced by social classes. The correlation of history and jurisprudence is connected to real everyday-life of his contemporaries. Gadebusch achieves this by underpinning the aim of beeing helpful for his own time with the results of his research and the validity of his science. The final part of this dissertation consists of an argument on cultural-science and its terms like cultural memory, that can be found in Gadebusch's work as well.

"Exploring the Roots of Digital and Media Literacy through Personal Narrative provides a wide-ranging look at the origins, concepts, theories, and practices of the field. This unique, exciting collection of essays by a range of distinguished scholars and practitioners offers insights into the scholars and thinkers who fertilized the minds of those who helped shape the theory and practice of digital and media literacy education. Each chapter describes an individual whom the author considers to be a type of "grandparent." By weaving together two sets of personal stories--that of the contributing author and that of the key ideas and life history of the historical figure under their scrutiny--major concepts of digital media and learning emerge.
Rejecting substantializing and essentializing concepts of culture, an understanding of culture that is epistemologically and hermeneutically motivated is outlined. In this view, culture is seen as a perspective or orientation that makes it possible to understand human actions, mind, and other psychological phenomena in a context without which they would not be understandable. This context only becomes intelligible if it is subject to interpretation, that is, if it is understood as a multilayered text, a narrative, a novel with countless plots, perspectives, levels of time, and spheres of emotion. Such narrative interpretation, it is argued, is what happens in cultural understanding. This argument is illustrated by an analysis of several forms of autobiographical identity.

Creative biography of Ukrainian cinema is a constant spiritual search, artistic discoveries, struggle for the right to exist and create freely. However, in Ukraine, with the understanding of the past of its own cinema, things do not look the best, due to the large amount of material involved not in the cultural but in the political context of history. The relevance of the article is due to the lack of a comprehensive study of the analysis of legal sources in the field of Soviet and post-Soviet cinema. The formation of Ukrainian cinema at the legal level had a number of patterns, stages and corresponded to the main features of well-known periods in the history of Ukraine's membership in the USSR and independent Ukraine. In Soviet historiography, the first legal act concerning cinema was the resolution of the Provisional Workers 'and Peasants' Government of the USSR on January 8, 1919, according to which all theaters and cinemas were transferred to the Department of Education. On August 27, 1919, the chairman of the People's Commissar of the SSFSR, V. Lenin, signed a decree «On the Transfer of the Photographic and Cinematographic Trade and Industry to the People's Commissariat of Education.» The date of signing this document was considered the birthday of all Soviet cinema, including Ukrainian. In February 1922, the previously formed All-Ukrainian Film Committee was reorganized into the All-Ukrainian Photo-Film Department (AUPFD). And already on June 18, 1922, «for the management of the photo and film industry of the USSR, its organization, operation of its production, as well as for the organization of all additional productions,» the People's Commissariat of Education of the USSR approved the «Regulations on Photo and Film Management.» Since then, this organization has undergone constant changes and reforms. In general, from the appearance of cinema to its demonstration on our screens today, many leading government agencies have been created, the purpose of which was to subordinate the film industry as an important factor influencing the minds of people. In the Soviet period, these were the All-Ukrainian Photo Cinema Department, the Cinematography Department, the Ministry of Cinematography of the Ukrainian SSR, the Main Directorate for Film Production, and the State Cinematography Committee of the Ukrainian SSR. When Ukraine became independent - the State Fund of Ukrainian Cinematography, the State Cinematography Service and finally the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema. The general analysis of normative-legal documents accepted for the management of these establishments leads to several conclusions. During the Soviet period, the main tasks of the state in the field of cinema, which were reflected in legal documents, were of course the filming of the territory of Ukraine, the formation of material and technical base of cinema and the spread of Soviet propaganda through ideological and feature films. Cinematography was recognized as one of the most important means of agitation. The period of independent Ukraine and the formation of independent national cinema began with the Law of Ukraine «On Cinema» in 1998. Gone are the days and cinema is no longer subject to ideological principles enshrined at the state level. Ukrainian cinema was able to stand on its own two feet. To popularize not the party, but the nation, which is now the priority of state policy in the field of cinema, as evidenced in particular by recent legislative changes from President V. Zelenskyi.
