AbstractPeople with learning disabilities and/or autism encounter considerable challenges on the pathways through the criminal justice and/or forensic health systems. This article presents a thematic analysis of focused discussions between users, professionals and practitioners from health, social care and criminal justice. It is informed by the social model of disability, which dictates its focus on solutions for maximising the full and effective participation of disabled users. Informants raised key challenges, including indirect disability discrimination and risk aversive practice, and evidenced innovative solutions. These include person‐centred, multi‐agency working, screening, information sharing, inclusive service design, nurturing sustainable key relationships and long‐term community support.

This paper explores the problem of knowledge and knowledge making among Polish primary care doctors. Following Kirsten Hastrup and Tim Ingold, I argue that doctors are skilful social-weavers capable of exploring and reconciling various orders of knowledge. Thus, through a diverse set of knowledgeable yarns – originating from professional and state regimes, and embedded in today's social relationships and economies – doctors are involved in the art of weaving a fabric composed of many, it would seem, contradictory orders of knowledge. The fabric in question is one in a constant state of reworking – although it is one that establishes a meaningful and knowledgeable environment in which the doctors can perform.

The technological revolution alongside with the coronavirus pandemic have changed the composition of immigrants to Russia from the CIS countries: there are more job applications coming from programmers and IT developers. The lack of such specialists in Russia forces employers to raise their salaries and offer better working conditions. Relationships between Russia and the CIS in the labor market (center–periphery) are often mutually beneficial to both parties. The article addresses the need of changing professional affiliations as well as retraining domestic specialists in order to reduce their deficit. The article presents the ILO data about insufficiently elaborated legal framework to counter informal employment for distant "immigrants".

Human Trafficking is a serious global crime, particularly catastrophic in Africa. An asynchronous, online, interprofessional course on Human Trafficking was developed to educate interprofessional Catholic sisters in Africa who are attempting to intervene in the crisis. This article describes an interprofessional university team's development, work processes, course product, and the initial impacts of the utilization of the interprofessional skills by the students. Specific elements deemed essential for success in creating and implementing IPE are delineated, including commitment from departments and colleges, respect for other professionals/disciplines, library support, time allowances, technology and learning design, and community relationships. Challenges and recommendations in the process as well as suggestions for future research are also discussed.

AbstractOver the last 10 years, scholars have started to focus on African states' bureaucracies by investigating public servants' relationships with the state, their professional ethos, how they appropriate reforms, and the way they interact with citizens. With inheritance disputes as a focal point, this article highlights the users' perspective—which is often overlooked—and asks how litigants in Cotonou (Benin) see the state, appropriate legal reforms, and use the courts. It shows that citizens, despite a general sense that the court system is corrupt and ineffective, continue to use it because state institutions convey a form of authority that allows them either to legitimize or challenge family decisions in inheritance matters.

This study examined how organizational control is related to employees' organizational trust. We specifically focus on how different forms of control (process, outcome, and normative) relate to employees' trust in their employing organizations and examine whether such trust in turn relates positively to employee job performance (task performance and organizational citizenship behavior). In addition, and in response to the recommendations of past research, we examined these relationships in a high control and compliance-based cultural context. Using data from 105 employee–supervisor dyads from professional services firms in Singapore, we find support for our hypothesized model. The implications of the results for theory and practice, and directions for future research, are discussed.

Using data from 1071 staff and administrative professionals at a large university experiencing repeated rounds of budget cuts, this article examines the attenuating effect of trust in management on the negative consequences of job insecurity. Results show that job insecurity was associated with increased burnout and psychological distress as well as decreased work and supervisor satisfaction and affective commitment. However, trust in management was negatively related to burnout and psychological distress but positively related to work and supervisor satisfaction and affective commitment. More importantly, trust in management was found to consistently buffer the relationships between job insecurity and these job-related outcomes. Implications for successfully managing job insecurity during times of organizational or economic upheaval are discussed.

This article presents a reflexive analysis of a collaborative action research project based on the "Nordic tradition" of action research. In this project I, in the role of researcher, worked with a team of four teachers in a Norwegian primary/lower secondary school to develop teaching practice focused on students' learning. I have retrospectively analysed data from my research diary, meetings and interviews. The article describes how the collaboration and the relationship between the teacher team and the researcher developed, and how this process contributed to the teachers' professional development. The results shed light on the complexity of teacher- researcher- relationships, and demonstrate the importance of engaging in reflexivity in collaborative action research.

AbstractPolicy professionals overseeing the provision of development assistance and their critical academic counterparts are often at odds with each other. Although many agree that it is useful to deal with this tension, current efforts to do so tend to exhort each to be more like the other under the rhetoric of 'evidence‐based policy'. Meanwhile, the differences between these players are kept alive by mutual misunderstandings that can border upon stereotyping. This paper reflects on this situation from the perspective of the critical academic and offers an enhanced understanding of key positions and misapprehensions to contribute to a foundation for improved relationships. There are many unspoken norms in the culture of academia that are subtly communicated and integrated into academic socialization, from the doctoral training process into advanced professional development. The predominance of white, Western, masculine, heteronormative, and (post)positivist norms of academia historically and contemporarily can create challenges for women of color who engage in scholarship that reflects feminist and cultural values. In this article, we briefly explore the complexities affecting feminist of color scholars negotiating such values within the context of academia and particularly in navigating collaborative scholarship. We respond to these obstacles and complexities by providing a treaty of concrete strategies for creating allied, cooperative working relationships across diverse positionalities that honor these values.

The article of record as published may be located at http://dx.doi.org/10.1177/2158244014533555 ; Many activities, from disaster response to project management, require cooperation among people from multiple organizations who initially lack interpersonal relationships and trust. On entering interorganizational settings, preexisting identities and expectations, along with emergent social roles and structures, may all influence trust between colleagues. To sort out these effects, we collected timelagged data from three cohorts of military MBA students, representing 2,224 directed dyads, shortly after they entered graduate school. Dyads who shared organizational identity, boundary-spanning roles, and similar network positions (structural equivalence) were likely to have stronger professional ties and greater trust.

Following theologian Raimon Panikkar, I argue that healthcare chaplaincy is authentic in regard to religious pluralism only when it is dialogical. In examples of pastoral problems of sacramental ministry and prayer that challenge the aims of denominational and multi-faith chaplaincy, I show how professional healthcare chaplains may enter into communion with patients in authentic relationships while maintaining a sense of alterity necessary for dialogue and effective ministry. I explore also the role of embodied alterity in the creative tension of intrapersonal rela-tionships. In response to the theological challenge of religious pluralism, I conclude that by experiencing dialogical pluralism in the reflective practice of ministry, healthcare chaplains can offer unique insights to pastoral theology.

Project Based Learning models present authentic learning opportunities with real-life situations, enabling students to set their own learning goals and forge their own relationships (Barab, et al., 2001). The autonomy inherent in this model allows youth to bring their skills and experiences to real situations and to be seen as valued community members. This article describes a project-based learning model involving "externs," who developed and implemented sustainability projects in their communities. Externs worked with Cooperative Extension professionals on locally relevant community projects during the summer of 2011 in three Arizona counties. The project based learning experience had a positive impact on the lives of our three externs.
