; The genealogical importance of the principle of partiinost' is substantiated in some versions of modern politicized philosophical thought. Drawing on the works of V. Lenin, L. Althusser, A. Badiou and S. Zizek, the authors show that the principle of partiinost' can be regarded as a metatheoretical principle of philosophy, and also a principle that anticipates the problem of the relation between the universal and the particular in modern social and political thought and practice.

The review is dedicated to the new book of Professor Vira Ageyeva, in which she examines Ukrainian-Russian relations mainly of the past two centuries under an anti-colonial perspective. The fact is that in world Slavic studies a lot has been written about these relations in the context of overtly or covertly articulated Russian interests and priorities. The Russian Empire, as this state was called from birth, constantly ennobled its history with other people's achievements and gains, in return depriving Ukrainians of what they had achieved. Through the prism of the cultural process, Vira Ageyeva describes and examines the Ukrainian resistance to the Russian Empire and the struggle for the preservation of collective memory. In these centuries, Ukrainian literature was the main spokesperson of the anti-colonial discourse. The author of the book traces the dynamics of this discourse, which she keeps track of from Kotlyarevsky, Kvitka-Osnovyanenko, Kharkiv romantics to the era of modernism, and then to several attempts to establish a state. Ukrainian culture and literature in particular during these periods offered different models of identity, one way or another, more or less successfully undermining the Russian imperial matrix and asserting its own cultural self-sufficiency. At the same time, as Vira Ageyeva convincingly proved, the humanism of Russian literature, which is talked about so much in the departments of Slavic studies of Western universities, with rare exceptions was exhausted (and is exhausted now) on the Ukrainian question.

In what way were the messages conveyed in Romanian advertisements influenced by the state of emergency declared due to COVID-19 pandemic? What kind of visual and textual messages did advertisements deliver to the target audience in this unique social context? Were there any specifics regarding their narrative or visuals? Based on the aforementioned questions, our hypothesis is that some Romanian advertisements that were distributed during the state of emergency had a social responsibility message, which is rather uncommon in commercials. The first part of our study will underline the theoretical framework of this problem: defining and explaining social responsibility and its implications. The second part of the study will present our research. Its aim is to conduct a qualitative analysis of the advertising discourse from pragmatic, rhetoric and semiotic perspectives. The corpus of our research consists of several advertisements and campaigns that were most visible in the public sphere during the state of emergency, both online. We will start by identifying the visual elements, narrative techniques and argumentative strategies, explaining the way they function as an instrument to increase social responsibility. We will approach the message of the advertisements from a speech acts theory point of view, then undergo a process of identifying the argumentative tactics that are being used and, finally, we will conduct a semiotic analysis. In the end, we will underline a series of conclusions regarding the narrative and the visual specifics of the analysed contents and we will highlight some ethical aspects of the advertisements.

Introduction. The article examines the views of the last major Byzantine philosopher George Gemistos Plethon on the immortality of the human soul. Scholars are still debating whether Plethon was a pagan who completely rejected Christianity, or a Christian who was too fond of Platonism. Methods. Methods employed in this article are source research, information analysis, comparative research. Sources on the subject include: Plethon's funeral orations on Cleopa Malatesta and on Helena Palaiologina, "Book of Laws", commentaries on the Chaldean Oracles, "On the Differences of Aristotle from Plato", "Summary of the Doctrines of Zoroaster and Plato", "Áddress to the Despot Theodore on the Peloponnese", Theodore Metochites' treatise "On Education". Analysis. An analysis of Plethon's writings shows that in his doctrine of the human soul and its posthumous destiny Gemistos was far removed from Christianity. Plethon confessed the pre-existence of souls to bodies and metempsychosis, he considered life in body as the main human mission in universe, as a link and boundary between the mortal and immortal worlds. According to Plethon, permanent periodical connection of immortal and mortal (soul and body) in human is better, than endless immortality after one life. His doctrine about soul does not imply neither deification of body, nor bodily resurrection and terrible judgment at the end of time. Results. In Plethon's monodies, his non-Christian views are expressed in a veiled way, but a careful analysis of the text of the monodies in comparison with the other works of the philosopher shows that his views on the destiny of the soul, on the one hand, were very different from those of the Christian Church, and on the other hand, they looked more optimistic, leaving the soul the opportunity both for gradual improvement in a series of rebirths, and for enjoying the divine life between them, subject to virtuous behavior on earth. Appendix. The article is accompanied by a Russian translation of Plethon's monodies on Cleopa Malatesta and Helena Palaiologina.
