The article analyses the importance of style for the brand structure considering the case of the Forbes USA magazine. It is hypothesized that strong brands have a particular style that is a special attribute of the brand and unites all its elements (name, logo, slogan, etc.) and other attributes (characteristics and associations with the brand in the minds of consumers) into a single whole which is a recognizable feature of the brand/. ; В статье рассматривается значение стиля в структуре бренда на примере американского варианта журнала "Форбс".

This study aimed to find a popular medium of mass communication that played the most significant role in polio eradication. The research paper was based on the concept of health communication, which is an integral part of development communication. Mass media, especially television, is the most powerful and effective medium of mass communication and a very important tool for shaping the Indian society. It can inform, educate, and motivate people to perform any desired behavior. This study explored that awareness level of people on health issues was very high. Most of the respondents claimed, they had been watching advertisements pertaining to social issues on television. It was also revealed that the level of participation of people in polio eradication was very high, i.e., 96 percent respondents reported that they went to the polio booth after watching the polio advertisement on television which was advocated by celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Aishwarya Rai and many more. Thus, this study also showed that TV as a mass medium for health communication was a very effective tool and it could also be argued that television had played a significant role in making polio-free India. While planning the present research, it was felt that an attempt should be made to provide a complete picture of the role of communication in semi-urban society of Lucknow district with specific reference to polio eradication.

Within a mystery framework, the Flight 1141 discourse provides clues that readers can use to construct their own disaster behavior awareness. The media must expand their pedagogical role beyond natural and technological disasters and begin providing basic airplane safety behavior information.
In the course of the research the author of the paper recorded a significant increase in the activity of Russian (pro-Russian) media (mass media), other media sources (mass-media, direct-media), individual websites and blogs on the Internet, which are elements of the modern information space. The author attributes such activity to the beginning of the hybrid war against Ukraine by the Russian Federation (RF It is determined that the information disseminated by these mass media is destructive. Namely, such information distorts the outlook of our population, leads to the wrong perception of events in our country and abroad, contributes to the formation of a negative attitude towards the political decisions taken by the leadership, which in turn leads to a deterioration of relations between Ukraine and partner countries diminishes the international image of our country. It is proved that behind the dissemination of fake information both on the territory of Ukraine and beyond, there are Russian special services whose main task is to destabilize the situation inside the state, discredit Ukraine in the international arena, to show its insolvency in all directions. It is investigated what kind of media can be used by the Russian special services to solve this problem. The peculiarities of the information and psychological impact to which various sections of the population of Ukraine are exposed due to information attacks by these media, including the categories residing in the temporarily occupied territories (TOT), are studied. For this purpose it is considered what groups it is expedient to present to the population of Ukraine taking into account its relation to the military conflict, territorial location, and also peculiarities of perception of fake materials by different groups of the population. As a result of the research, the author of the article proposes how to improve the security of competitive intelligence unit's activities in the area of the operation of the Joint Forces (OJF) and the TOT by organizing adequate counteraction to the destructive influence on the population of Ukraine by the Russian (pro-Russian) media available in special structures and means. Namely, the author of the article proposed on the basis of functioning in the interested state structures of information-analytical divisions to create so-called divisions (departments) of information counteraction. Also, the author discloses the features of staffing such units, their information, financial and legal support. ; У ході проведеного дослідження автором статті зафіксовано суттєве підвищення активності російських (проросійських) засобів масової інформації (ЗМІ), інших джерел медійного середовища (мас-медіа, директ-медіа), окремих сайтів та блогів в Інтернеті, котрі є елементами сучасного інформаційного простору. Таку активність автор пов'язує з початком ведення Російською Федерацією (РФ) гібридної війни проти України. Визначено, що інформація, яка розповсюджується зазначеними мас-медіа, має деструктивний характер. Зокрема, така інформація викривляє світогляд нашого населення, призводить до хибного сприйняття сучасних подій в нашій державі й за кордоном, сприяє формуванню у населення негативного відношення до політичних рішень, які приймаються керівництвом нашої держави, що у свою чергу призводить до погіршення відносин між Україною та країнами-партнерами, знижує її міжнародний імідж. Доведено, що за розповсюдженням фейкової інформації (дезінформаційних матеріалів) як на території нашої держави, так й за її межами, стоять російські спецслужби, основне завдання яких – дестабілізувати ситуацію всередині держави, дискредитувати Україну на міжнародній арені, представити її перед світовою спільнотою як державу, яка неспроможна виконувати свої функції за всіма напрямами. Досліджено, які саме ЗМІ можуть використовуватися російськими спецслужбами для вирішення цього завдання. Вивчено особливості інформаційно-психологічного впливу, якому піддаються різні верстви населення України завдяки інформаційним атакам з боку цих ЗМІ, у тому числі ті категорії населення, які проживають на тимчасово окупованих територіях (ТОТ). Для цього автором розглянуто питання, якими основними соціальними групами доцільно представити населення України з огляду на його відношення до військового конфлікту, територіальне розташування, а також з урахуванням особливостей сприйняття різними групами населення фейкових матеріалів. У результаті проведеного дослідження автором надано пропозиції, яким чином можна вдосконалити безпеку діяльності підрозділів конкурентної розвідки в районі проведення ООС і на ТОТ за рахунок організації адекватної протидії деструктивному впливу на населення України з боку російських (проросійських) ЗМІ з використанням наявних у державних структурах спеціальних сил і засобів. Зокрема, автором запропоновано на базі діючих в зацікавлених державних структурах інформаційно-аналітичних підрозділів створити так званні підрозділи (відділи) інформаційної протидії. Також автором розкриті особливості комплектування таких підрозділів, їх інформаційне, фінансове і правове забезпечення.

The transformations of the mass media and the emergence of new media have generated new social practices. The object of study of this work is the digitization of political discourse. We will use tools of socio-semiotics, of political theory and mediatization theory and convergence. The corpus is formed by the accounts of the candidates for president in the argentine election of 2011. We aim to detail the ways of the inclusion of political discourse in social networks. We hold as a hypothesis that the uses of the politicians of the social networks are framed in the political developments and imply logics of different media. We call them "media strategies". Taking into account the tools of the Twitter interface, the interaction with the mass media and also those from the world of politics, we will conclude in emphasizing the emergence of four types of strategies. ; Las transformaciones de los medios masivos y el surgimiento de nuevos medios han generado nuevas prácticas sociales. La coyuntura social, cultural y económica de España durante los últimos años ha diversificado el ámbito de la información y los medios de comunicación. Muchos mass media han encontrado en el crowdfunding no solo una alternativa de financiación válida, sino una herramienta para conocer la opinión de la potencial audiencia y testear el producto antes de ser lanzado al mercado. De la mano de estos cambios, surge el periodismo lento (slow journalism), una corriente que busca profundizar en los acontecimientos y brinda una perspectiva alejada de la necesidad de inmediatez de la noticia de último momento. Este trabajo presenta los estudios de caso de dos medios digitales que combinan dichas tendencias: el periódico El Español y la Revista 5W. A lo largo de la investigación, se analizan ambas propuestas informativas con sus respectivas campañas de financiación colectiva, con la finalidad de comprender y encontrar relaciones entre estos fenómenos circunscritos a un contexto particular. El material de análisis comprende entrevistas, notas de prensa y contenido de cada uno de los medios, el cual se sustenta con un marco teórico específico. En los resultados se presta especial atención a las campañas de crowdfunding, el rol del lector, la publicidad, la nueva dinámica laboral y la posibilidad que tienen estas iniciativas digitales a la hora de adquirir una mayor independencia del poder político y de las empresas anunciantes. ; The social, cultural and economic situation in Spain during the last years has diversified the field of information and mass media. Many of them have found in crowdfunding not only a financial alternative, but an instrument to know the opinion of the potential audience and to test the product before it is launched in the market. Along with these changes, it emerges the slow journalism, a tendency that has the purpose to go deeply into the events and brings us an outlying point of view away from the breaking news. This essay presents the study case of two digital media that combine both tendencies: the newspaper El Español and the magazine Revista 5W. Through this investigation, both media are analyzed with their own crowdfunding campaigns, with the purpose of understand and find connections between these cramped phenomena in a particular context. The analysis material comprises interviews, press releases and content of each media, sustained with a specific theoretical framework. The results pay special attention to crowdfunding campaigns, reader role, advertising, new dynamic labor and the possibility of these digital initiatives have in acquiring a higher independence from political power and advertising companies. ; Máster Universitario en Gestión de la Información Digital. This study explores the television news repertoires and voting behaviors of American citizens in the 2016 U.S. election. The results reveal notably different repertoires, some defined by ideologically driven selective exposure, others defined by political interest selective exposure (preference/disinterest in the news), and others that are seemingly neutral. In turn, both total news exposure and exposure diversity positively predict voter turnout, with exposure diversity demonstrating the stronger effect. Moreover, there was a clear relationship between exposure to partisan news media and voting in that respective party's primary election.
This study uses in-depth, biographical interviews to understand a range of historical experiences in the careers of individual women broadcasters in the Midwest, a region of the United States that has received relatively little attention from media scholars. The findings demonstrate the barriers these women faced as well as the social and cultural capital available to them as they pursued diverse roles in an industry that did not welcome their full participation. The study contributes to scholars' understanding of women's participation in the public sphere during the 1950s to 1970s.
This article examines how the federal government controlled the Japanese "enemy language" newspapers in Japanese American "relocation centers" during World War II. Camp officials were facing a dilemma: They knew Japanese news media would promote effective information dissemination, but no one understood the language. As a compromising solution, they limited Japanese contents to verbatim translations of official English releases. They also conducted thorough background examinations of translators to sort out "unquestionably loyal" bilingual Japanese. Press freedom inside the barbed wire fences was conditional at best; it was even more so in the enemy's language.
Despite calls to conceptualize credibility as three separate concepts—source credibility, message credibility, and media credibility—there exists no scale that exclusively measures message credibility. To address this gap, the current study constructs and validates a new scale. Results from a confirmatory factor analysis suggest that message credibility, specifically in the context of news, can be measured by asking participants to rate how well three adjectives describe content: accurate, authentic, and believable. Validity and reliability tests are reported, and contributions to credibility research are discussed.
