This book explores the devastating consequences and psychological ruptures of refugeehood as it evocatively recounts the life histories of dislocated Tibetans expelled from their homes since 1959. It offers an understanding of unconscious processes and the intergenerational transmission of trauma across generations
"This book's critical analyses of Amazon.com trace the political economy of the platform, the practices of resistance that laborers and activists have employed against it, the broader cultural impacts it has had on everyday life, and its broader environmental impacts on the world"--

This volume questions the idea that the nation-state is the only available form of community, and challenges its hegemonic control over forms of socio-cultural belonging. The contributions here explore cross-cultural and transnational encounters which highlight narratives that escape the neat boundaries constructed by nationalities

Despite the collapse of Soviet-style socialism, the spectre of Marx still haunts the French imagination. This is no accident, in a country whose intellectual life and political history have long been marked by his multiple presences. This volume offers a historical and sociological insight into the way his thought has been received in the French context, from his own lifetime to the present. Analysing Marx's place and influence in the French intellectual, political and artistic debate – across the political spectrum and even in the French-speaking colonial world – it helps us understand the uses and misuses of an œuvre of paramount importance

Dazu gehören u.a.

Potosi (today Bolivia) was the major supplier for the Spanish Empire and for the world and still nowadays, boasts the world's single-richest silver deposit. This book explores the political economy of silver production and circulation illuminating a vital chapter in the history of global capitalism. It travels through geology, sacred spaces, and technical knowledge in the first section; environmental history and labor in the second section; silver flows, the heterogeneous world of mining producers, and their agency in the third; and some of the local, regional, and global impacts, in the fourth section. The main focus is on the set-up of a complex infrastructure at the site, its major changes, and the new human and environmental landscape that emerged for the production of one of the worlds major commodities: silver.
