The year 2012 marks the fifth anniversary of the Environmental Goals and Sustainable Prosperity Act (EGSPA). The Act is an experiment in improving government performance in promoting sustainable prosperity through the process of setting legislative goals and enhancing accountability. This article provides an overview of the Act and an assessment of its performance over these first five years. As such, it supplies the context for the other contributions to the collection of essays on EGSPA in this issue of the Journal. The authors conclude that the Act has had a positive impact on government action on sustainable prosperity and that there is room for improvement, particularly with respect to the overall goal of integrating environmental protection with economic prosperity. The article concludes by offering some recommendations to strengthen the Act.

Este artigo pretende expor a distinção da China entre os membros dos BRICS desde a fundação do grupo em 2009 até 2019 a partir da perspectiva disposta pelo conceito de Nova Economia do Projetamento. Primeiramente serão analisadas as conjunturas de comércio exterior e investimentos da China direcionados aos membros dos BRICS, expondo dados que corroboram que a China é a economia mais robusta entre os países do agrupamento e que os índices de complexidade econômica estão relacionados com os desempenhos de crescimento de cada um dos países. Em seguida, será constatado que a China passou por um processo de industrialização rumo ao centro da cadeia de produção global e proeminência nos BRICS. Assim, uma capacidade endógena para esta movimentação será conferida ao desenvolvimento da Nova Economia do Projetamento. Conclusivamente, os modelos de desenvolvimento econômico adotados por Brasil, Rússia, Índia e África do Sul expressam limites aos níveis de industrialização impostos pelo capital comercial rural e pela financeirização nos âmbitos interno e externo, respectivamente, que explicam a assimetria existente no grupo.

Fatty acids are essential building blocks for the structural components of the cells, tissues, organs, and certain biologically active substances synthesis. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids are long-chain fatty acids essential for several biological functions including oxidative stress reduction and cardiovascular safety. Diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids is well acknowledged as beneficial to one's health and well-being. For the development of balanced diets, the nutrient content of raw and cooked foods is crucial. However, cooking method, animal age, and carcass characteristics might affect nutrient retention during cooking, and these factors are often unique to specific countries. This review thus provides a general overview of several cooking effects on long-chain omega-3 retention in fish. It can be concluded that the DHA and EPA's true retention values are correlated to the impact of different cooking treatments.
