The purpose of this study was to compare the driving simulator performance of participants with visual field loss (VFL) from optic disc drusen (ODD) with a normally sighted control group and a group of individuals with glaucoma. Data on performance and safety from a traffic simulator test for five participants with VFL from ODD were retrospectively compared with data from 49 male individuals without visual deficits in a cross-sectional study. VFL of the ODD group was also compared with a group of 20 male glaucoma participants who had failed the same simulator test. Four individuals with ODD regained their driving licences after a successful simulator test and were then followed in a national accident database. All participants with ODD passed the test. No significant differences in safety or performance measures were detected between the normally sighted participants and the ODD group despite severe concentric visual field constrictions. Compared with failed glaucoma male participants, the ODD group had even lower mean sensitivity in the peripheral and peripheral inferior field of vision. None of the four participants with a regained licence were involved in a motor vehicle accident during a 3-year follow-up period after the simulator test. Despite having severe VFL, participants with ODD had no worse performance or safety than controls. As even individuals with severe VFL might drive safely, there is a need for individual practical assessments on licencing issues.

Abstract. In June 2005, a series of major rockfall events completely wiped out the Bonatti Pillar located in the legendary Drus west face (Mont Blanc massif, France). Terrestrial lidar scans of the west face were acquired after this event, but no pre-event point cloud is available. Thus, in order to reconstruct the volume and the shape of the collapsed blocks, a 3-D model has been built using photogrammetry (structure-from-motion (SfM) algorithms) based on 30 pictures collected on the Web. All these pictures were taken between September 2003 and May 2005. We then reconstructed the shape and volume of the fallen compartment by comparing the SfM model with terrestrial lidar data acquired in October 2005 and November 2011. The volume is calculated to 292 680 m3 (±5.6 %). This result is close to the value previously assessed by Ravanel and Deline (2008) for this same rock avalanche (265 000 ± 10 000 m3). The difference between these two estimations can be explained by the rounded shape of the volume determined by photogrammetry, which may lead to a volume overestimation. However it is not excluded that the volume calculated by Ravanel and Deline (2008) is slightly underestimated, the thickness of the blocks having been assessed manually from historical photographs.

Academicians "are interested in researching the factors that influence users' acceptance or rejection of IoT technology due to they recognize that understanding the needs and acceptance of individuals is the first step in any collaborative activities from a central area. Many frameworks and models have been created to explain how users usage IoT technology, and these models include factors that may have an impact on user acceptability. An overview of ideas and concepts relating to user acceptability of IoT technology has been presented in this study. The literature that attempts to demonstrate how developers and academics foretell the level of usage IoT will achieve will be given special emphasis in the current review. This study analyzes technology adoption models pertinent to information systems and information technology studies on cutting-edge technologies like the Internet of Things. The study may be used to analyze the adoption and use of new technology. Additionally, it can be applied to enhance these theories and models when implementing new technology."

Saul Solomon was born in 1817 and died in 1892. He was never a member of the Legislative Council, so that his political career can be said to have begun in 1854, when he was returned to the first House of Assembly as one of the four members representing Capetown. He held his seat with a break of only one year, in 1869, until 1883, when illness oompelled him to retire. To my mind, prior to 1854, he was but an 'amateur' politician, using the word in no depreciatory sense, and I therefore propose to concentrate most of my attention on his parliamentary career.
