The purpose was to investigate, in a sample of drug abusers, whether subscales in the KAPP (Karolinska Psychodynamic Profile, Weinryb, 1992) interview and defense mechanisms explored by the DMTm (Defense Mechanism Technique modified) could differentiate between DSM-III-R clusters and personality disorders (PDs). Forty-seven (47) subjects out of the 84 injecting drug abusers (56%) recruited from a detoxification hospital ward in Sweden had a primary antisocial PD (ASPD) with a comorbid second DSM-III-R PD diagnosis. Pathology was significant on the KAPP subscales of"Dependency and separation," "Alexithymic traits," "Normopathic traits,""Coping with aggressive affects," and "Sexual satisfaction" in relation to cluster B (dramatic). All subscales were predominant in patients with ASPD/narcissistic PD, who showed the defense mechanism marked denial. The two latter subscales were related to patients with ASPD/borderline PD, who showed the defense of introaggression and the DMTm sign of disappearance of threat. Finally, some psychoanalytic constructs in KAPP and DMTm showed congruence.
Labor Relations in New Democracies explores how democratization has changed the material and political fortunes of workers in the new democracies of Europe, Latin America, and East Asia. It also examines how workers have responded to their newly found environment. The question is explored through analyses of labor compensation and industrial relations in these countries, and two detailed case studies. The study reveals that where workers have benefited the most from democratization - in Western Europe - they have also become more militant. At the other end of the spectrum, Eastern European countries, workers have benefitted the least from democratization. As a result, they have experienced declines in their ability to strike.
In the following work we have as a central objective to examine the socio-economic implications of the disintegration of the economy of Puerto Rico from the second half of the twentieth century, using as a center of study the cases of the sugar industry, the petrochemical industry -CORCO and the industries under the section 936 sector. The three sectors were at their peak the most important activities in the Puerto Rican economy during the twentieth century; However, the three sectors were displaced and ruined by local and international situations, causing one of the largest economic crises in our contemporary history.
; Can political advertising influence the subjective well-being of voters? With the perception of subjective poverty as a measure of well-being, this study attempts to answer this question. Using the perception of poverty as a measure of well-being and information on advertising expenditure in mayoral elections in Colombia in the period 2011-2016, I estimate a linear model of probability in repeated cross-sections to establish the relationship between these two variables. In the most demanding specification, an increase of a standard deviation in advertising spending per voter is correlated with an increase of 1.9 percentage points in the probability that an exposed individual declare himself as poor. In addition, i present preliminary evidence of the mechanism, with the effect being explained by the expenditure coming from the challengers candidates, and not by the different ideological trends of the competing candidates.
The current research deals with an ethnographic study that analyses, through the use of a biographical portrait, the impact that social, political and religious changes, which have happened over the years, have had in the existence of a gay man who was born in the 1950s. By means of the information compiled across interviews and a field notebook, it has been verified how the Francoist regime and catholic religion have shaped his identity and the way he has lived his homosexuality.
