For about the past 20 years, Salafism has become an incontrovertible actor in the re-Islamization of French suburbs. Despite reference to a historically ossified model, that of the pious ancestors (Prophet Mohammed's companions), the Salafist current is a dynamic one. This article intends to analyze the ideological transformations of the movement. Although there has been a weakening of the Salafist political line, the protest dimension remains one of the pillars of this school's doctrinal identity. Its ideological transformations are less linked to an internal revolution than to external political constraints & imperatives (state pressure, international context). That being the case, the ideological re-orientations of French Salafists are primarily a reaction to the call of an era, the state of political balances of power & the constraints they impose. Résumé Au Maghreb, où se multiplient les attentats islamistes, on s'inquiète de la popularité croissante du salafisme, divisé en trois courants. La mouvance révolutionnaire prône l'action radicale comme seul moyen de changement social ; la tendance missionnaire, apolitique, appelle à un retour à l'islam des origines ; le courant politique prône l'activisme en vue de convaincre les musulmans de la nécessité d'établir une société islamique. Ces trois courants, bien que distincts, s'opposent tous à l'Occident, accusé d'entraîner la décadence de l'islam. Le succès du salafisme s'explique en partie par l'échec des mouvements de réislamisation comme les Frères musulmans, auxquels les salafistes reprochent les concessions concernant la référence coranique, l'ouverture politique et l'instrumentalisation de l'islam dans une logique partisane.

Résumé Exerçant un rôle politique et religieux majeur au Liban, l'organisation des Ahbâch, qui se réclame du sunnisme et du soufisme, est de plus en plus présente sur le Vieux Continent, et en particulier en France. Prônant l'intégration sociale et économique de ses fidèles tout en refusant, spécialement en Europe, toute participation à la vie politique et toute négociation avec l'État, la communauté des Ahbâch constitue désormais un acteur incontestable de l'islam de France et d'Europe.

Taking inspiration from Sunni Islam & Sufism, the organization of the Ahbikh plays a major political & religious role in Lebanon & is more & more present in Europe -- particularly in France. Advocating social & economic integration of its faithful, & refusing -- especially in Europe -- to participate in political life or to negotiate with the state, the community of the Ahbikh has become an important actor of French & European Islam. Résumé Les courants salafistes, vecteurs privilégiés de la réislamisation en Europe, concurrencent désormais les structures plus anciennement implantées. Il s'agit d'une mouvance composite, au sein de laquelle peuvent être distingués un salafisme révolutionnaire ou djihadiste, un salafisme de prédication et un salafisme politique. Chacune de ces tendances entretient un rapport particulier aux sociétés européennes, aux sociétés musulmanes, et aux moyens – dont le djihad – de hâter l'avènement de l'État islamique.

Since the beginning of the 1980s in Europe, the emergence of a new form of Islamic religiosity among mainly young people of immigrant parents has been observed. This new relation with Islam is largely the result of "re-islamization" movements such as the Muslim Brotherhood movement. However the 1990s have seen the emergence of a new actor in this "re-islamization" dynamics in Europe: Salafism. It is possible to distinguish three streams resulting from. Salafism .in Europe. The first tendency is the revolutionary one. It places "Jihad" at the heart of religious beliefs. The second is predicative Salafism, which bases its action on preaching & religious courses.
