The research can make a lot of sense when you are strongly motivated and, motivation is just as important as your knowledge how to do it. In the latter case, you must proceed in the correct order. Firstly, the boundaries of the research field should be set, and secondly, original and unconventional research problems and hypotheses should be defined. Thirdly, the proper selection of primary and secondary sources is necessary. Fourthly, you choose appropriate research methods and techniques, and then construct a research tool or tools. In the article the author presents his analysis of the current political events in Ukraine, beginning with the origin of the Euromajdan and the mistakes of president Yanukowych that eventually led to his removal. The Ukrainian society is depicted with strong emphasis on the high level of political awareness that is characteristic of that society and their determination to reach their goals, as well as their political and economic aspirations. According to the author, the Ukrainian-Russian war started on February 28, 2014 when unidentified troops began occupation of administrative buildings in Crimea and the development of this conflict will bring severe consequences for both countries. Furthermore, the possible reasons why Putin chose the Crimea as an arena of his political pursuits are provided, as well as his minimum, maximum and interval targets concerning Ukraine. The author also maintains that the West and its actions or lack thereof is crucial for Ukraine; he notices that the demands made by the Western side are ignored, but he sees them not as "empty words" but announcements of future political events. He believes that the Western countries will take action in two ways: they will introduce immediate symbolic sanctions, as well as long-term sanctions aimed to prevent violating international law in the future. The article also presents the author's prediction concerning the future actions of the Western states and the likelihood of direct NATO intervention. Additionally, the author considers the situation in Ukraine also from the perspective of Poland.

GLAMOUR TOTALITARIANISM IN INFORMATION AGEThe totalitarianism of the information civilisation is, in comparison with the 20th century, much more varied, much more attractive externally and usually less likely to use violence. However, in its essence it does not differ from its predecessor of the industrial era. Its definitional features include political gnosis and the existence of a quasi-charismatic leader as well as, to a lesser extent, the existence of a structure typical of a religious order-like political party.

THE THEORETICAL CATEGORIES OF TOTALITARIANISM AND EMPIRICAL RESEARCHWhere can a given political regime be placed at a given moment in the continuum between the ideal type of totalitarianism and authoritarianism? A precise response to the question is possible after we determine the subtypes in the intensity of the various features of the relevance criteria identifying totalitarian regimes: the party and state apparatus its ability to rule effectively, controlled mobilisation of social masses and political gnosis. Depending on the intensity of these features we can distinguish various phases of totalitarianism situated over a continuum between its ideal type and authoritarianism.

Both in the Polish and Russian language the term 'nation' is understood in a slightly different way than the English word 'nation'. It is understood not only in cultural but also political terms, and in numerous contexts it is used to denote 'the people' or an 'ethnic nation/ethnos'. Thus, when we use words 'nation, nationality, narodnost', sometimes only the context makes it possible to decide whether we mean the nation, nation or ethnos. However, this lack of clear distinction in the colloquial discourse should not make one conclude that there are not fully shaped nations in Poland and Russia. It is just that the colloquial discourse fails to notice these vague distinctions. In the scientific discourse in both countries, these di! erentiations have been precisely defined and used for a long time.
