Wie sind Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft verzahnt und welche Auswirkung haben soziale Prozesse auf die Entwicklung wissenschaftlicher Theorien? Dieses Buch beschreibt einen Rahmen für die übergreifende Betrachtung der Wissenschaft. Von der Wissenschaftstheorie ausgehend werden soziologische wie gesellschaftswissenschaftliche Perspektiven in einer Computersimulation zusammengeführt. Eine eigens in Prolog entwickelten Simulationsumgebung bildet die Grundlage für konkrete Simulationsexperimente und zeigt so Querbeziehungen zwischen verschiedenen Betrachtungsebenen mit entsprechenden Einflussfaktoren auf wissenschaftliche Prozesse. Gefragt wird zum Beispiel danach, welche Auswirkungen Plagiate auf die Theoriebildung haben oder inwiefern Publikationsprozesse oder die Verteilung von Forschungsbudgets Einfluss nehmen. Betrachtet man aktuelle Tendenzen, etwa die wachsende Zahl von Publikationen sowie die zunehmende Bedeutung von Drittmitteln in der Forschung, wird die gesellschaftliche Relevanz dieser Themen deutlich. Entsprechend bietet der in diesem Buch vorgestellte Rahmen nicht nur eine Brücke zwischen verschiedenen Betrachtungsebenen, sondern auch das Potential für ein Werkzeug zur Steuerung wissenschaftlicher Prozesse und Rahmenbedingungen.

This article describes the central criteria for origin of social institutions in
the conceptual frame of the theory of social institutions stated in (Balzer, 1990). This basic theory focusses of activities of exerting power. criteria the following: a) a new action type must be invented and systematically used, b) this type must be a new of exerting power, in the phase of generation of this type only few persons uses this type, d) the costs of these new actions of exerting power must be covered by the rewards of these actions, and e) the other important conditions for such actions must be favorable.

A theory of power inspired by Wartenberg's account is presented in precise terms, together with various specializations amounting to different forms of power, and performing a net. The notion of exerting power is characterized by the actors' intentions and by a believed causal connection between the actions involved. The subordinate agent performs "his" action although originally he did not intend to do so. Some variants of application of the models are discussed.

Set-theoretic axiomatizations are given for a model of accounting with double c1assification, and a general core-model for accounting. The empirical status, and "representational" role of systems of accounts, as weIl as the problem of how to assign "correct" values to the goods accounted, are analyzed in precise terms. A net of special laws based on the core-model is described.

The macro theory of general equilibrium of a closed economy (GECE) is concisely formulated. Seen from two or more countries, the following notions used in the models are: kinds of goods and factors, output of goods, input of factors, price of goods and factors, endowment-, production-, and utility-function. The last three notions are treated as GECE-theoretical. The central hypothese of GECE using all the notions and several definitions, says that in all intended systems there exist equilibrium states. Here the inadequate distinction between GECE-theoretical and non-GECE-theoretical notions is used. But the formal apparatus constructed here can be used also in the more adequate meta-theoretical approach.

Der Gedanke meines Beitrags ist, eine auf Raum und Zeit gemünzte Explikation von 'ist apriori in der heutigen Physik' zu geben (Abschnitt I) und mit dieser an die in der heutigen Physik vorliegende Situation heranzugehen. Es zeigt sich, daß die vorgeschlagene Explikation tatsächlich auf Raum und Zeit zutrifft (Abschnitt II). Eine Komplikation ergibt sich, wenn man, der Entwicklung nach Einstein Rechnung tragend, Raum und Zeit zu einem Begriff der Raum-Zeit zusammenfaßt. Obwohl bei der Raum-Zeit die Lage heute noch nicht völlig klar ist, läßt sich feststellen, daß die Entwicklung der Physik eine Tendenz hat, auch die Raum-Zeit zu 'apriorisieren' (Abschnitt III). Abschließend (Abschnitt IV) möchte ich versuchen, die Beziehungen zu Kants Begriff von apriori herzustellen. Mir scheint, daß bei Aufhebung von zwei Relativierungen in meiner Explikation diese durchaus im Sinne Kants ist.

Social actions can be formulated in the frame of game theory or in a frame using,
and foccussing on, the notion of power. The two frames are described and clarified. The
comparison of theories from these two branches are evaluated from the point of theory of science.

The "classical" method of ordinary least squares which estimate two parameters of a linear (e.g. the demand) function is structuralistically reconstructed and is discussed from the point of theory of theories. The question is whether this statistical method can be subsumed under the notion of methods of measurement. The example used here is of course paradigmatic. The question in general is, whether a statistical procedure can be used in the right circumstances as a measurement procedure. We find arguments for the latter option.

Network analysis as a method in empirical sociology is described, and some central
notions of this analysis are clarified and integrated into the philosophy of science.
