In hegemonialen Diskursen, die sich gerade in ökonomischer Hinsicht als wirkmächtig erwiesen haben, erscheinen ökologische Konflikte meist als Konflikte um das adäquate Management von Ressourcen. Der epistemische Subtext dieser Herangehensweise an den Gegenstand "Umwelt" basiert auf einem spezifischen Konzept von Natur, welches Natur als Materie, als das Andere der Kultur und des menschlichen Geistes begreift. Mit Bezug auf Philippe Descola soll in diesem Artikel gezeigt werden, dass sich die im Kontext indigener politischer Strategien revitalisierenden und neu ausgehandelten Naturkonzepte der Dayak auf der Insel Borneo von diesem hegemonialen Naturkonzept unterscheiden – auch wenn sich diese immer wieder auf Grundlagen der hegemonialen Episteme beziehen müssen, um in die globalen Diskurse eintreten zu können. Der Beitrag veranschaulicht diese epistemische Dimension ökologischer Konflikte, indem exemplarisch Publikationen von John Bamba, Direktor einer indigenen Organisation im indonesischen West-Kalimantan, analysiert werden. Es soll außerdem gezeigt werden, wie indigenes Wissen in seiner epistemischen Gesamtheit in hegemonialen Diskursen über lokales Wissen in Kalimantan ausgeblendet wird.

Ein Blick auf die Symbolik im Wahlkampf zeigt jedoch, dass die Unterschiede zwischen dem Camp des Präsidenten und des Herausforderers, Prabowo Subianto, nicht besonders groß sind.

When the indigenous peoples' movement emerged in the 1990s and grew stronger in the wake of reformasi, people formally termed "backward" and "primitive" suddenly emerged as political actors. This article traces the relationship between the state and the idea of the original, sometimes referred to as the autochthonous, sometimes as the indigenous, in Indonesian history and analyses how these relationships are reflected in legislation on land issues, the major concern of recent indigenous movements. In a second step, the article deals with current political strategies of the indigenous movement (AMAN), concluding that the movement is shifting its efforts from the "centre" (national legislation), to the provinces and the margins, a process we term the "local turn" in the indigenous people's movement in Indonesia. By drawing on the example of Enrekang, South Sulawesi, the contribution shows how peraturan dearah (local regulations) provide a basis for recognition within the margins of the Indonesian nation state. Doch zu einem strukturellen Wandel in der Medienindustrie kam es nicht. Die Medien in Indonesien werden von Oligarchen beherrscht, die ein enges Verhältnis zur politischen Macht haben. Sie nutzen ihre Medien exzessiv für den eigenen Wahlkampf.

In this essay we propose an alternative approach to assessing the state of democracy in Indonesia. We focus not on institutional indicators (as is usually the case) but on manifestations of political discourses in the public sphere. In applying post-Marxist political theory through the work of Slavoj Žižek and Chantal Mouffe, we argue that democracy's main defining feature is that it allows antagonistic discourses about alternative policies to coexist, yet still manages to coalesce around a minimal consensus on how these discursive conflicts are to be dealt with in a fair way. Applying this approach to democracy analysis to Indonesia, we suggest that the major obstacles to democratic practice do not emerge from institutional problems, but from an overbearing political discourse that imposes broad consensus and harmony on most political issues. Political discourse in Indonesia is generally structured around "Islam" and "the people." These themes provide a basis for a political consensus that conceals economic and social contradictions and reveals considerable depoliticization in Indonesian democratic practice. This article aims to show the phenomenon of Adat as an influential factor in Indonesia's regional election process after the New Order Era. The phenomenon seems to indicate a "local ideology" that fundamentally influences people's political behavior within regional elections. Based on the regional election was in the Toraja regions, Province of South Sulawesi in 2015, this article intends to shows how Adat as the Toraja ethnic group foundation of social identity became the fundamental standard of political behavior. It seems to present Adat as an ideology for the ethnic group where dominantly during the regional election. Ultimately, the view from the Toraja regional election has indicated the possibility of local ideology existence where could be crucial for the local political dynamics. It means the ideology as part of political behavior standard is not only present in its general form as known today. Certain communities could have local ideologies based on their local wisdom, and their context was strictly related to efforts to keep their existence as indigenous people as well as their reclaim as the owner of the land.
