He NAFTA Agreement, which served as a personification of North American economic integration for a quarter of a century, was created by the United States in the early 1990s as a response to the successes of the European Community. The US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which replaced NAFTA under the Trump administration, is aimed at solving another task - to counter China's economic expansion in North America and, more broadly, in the Western Hemisphere.

The death of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of Charles III to the throne have revived the debate about the future of the monarchy in Canada. Nationwide opinion polls show that the popularity of this institution is steadily declining and citizens, especially young people, feel growing indifference and alienation towards it. The troublemaker is the French-speaking Québec whose inhabitants have not forgotten how New France was conquered by the British in 1763. Although, unlike some other Commonwealth realms, there is currently nothing directly threatening the monarchy in Canada, supporters and opponents of this form of government have already formulated their arguments and exchanged the first salvos of upcoming political battles.

The paper examines the concept of multimodal expressiveness contributing to the general study of the expressive and emotive functions in belles-lettres texts. The author attempts to prove that in heterogeneous discourse expressiveness manifests itself as a meaning-making resource responsible for the form-content fusion. The analysis is carried out on the basis of two different kinds of theatrical discourse: theatrical performance and public play-reading. The author turns to theatrical interpretations of the plays by Alexander Vampilov, Alexander Kazantsev, Natalya Sadur, and to two public readings of the play "A man from Podolsk" by Dmitry Danilov, with the total duration of 740 minutes. The focus is on gesture as a pivotal semiotic resource of the theatre. The results of the comparative quantitative analysis show the difference (i) in the gesture patterns and (ii) the frequency of their usage in the two kinds of theatrical discourse. The qualitative results are obtained with the help of the parametric analysis which is a relevant tool for estimating the activity and functions of gestural modality and as such helps to reveal the specificity of meaning construal.

The article presents an analysis of the actual Soviet practice of out-of-school chemistry education in the early years of the Soviet power and the changes that took place in out-of-school education in the new educational environment under the influence of socio-political factors. A description of the main modernisation processes in the education system as a whole, which influenced the development and improvement of Soviet out-of-school chemistry education in the 1920s, is presented. The main legislative acts and decrees of the Soviet government in the field of out-of-school education in the 1920s, which led to the renewal of the goals and content of additional chemistry education in accordance with the tasks of global polytechnic national education of the people, are considered. At the legislative level, the Soviet power had returned the management of out-of-school education to the People's Commissariat for Education, which contributed to its development and the variety of its directions and forms. The article focuses on the need to carefully study the positive historical experience of organising out-of-school chemistry education in the 1920s in order to identify the directions of its modernisation at the present stage of development of the system of additional education for schoolchildren.
