Les données de l'enquête de fécondité menée au Québec en 1971 permettent de mesurer l'accord des conjoints sur cette question à divers moments. Elles montrent qu'on ne peut, sans risque d'erreur, prendre la femme comme unique répondante dans les enquêtes de ce genre.
Le degré de concordance des époux est déterminé, entre autres, par les règles du choix du conjoint. La construction d'un indice de proximité fait apparaître une corrélation positive entre la concordance des conjoints en matière de fécondité et le degré d'homogamie des couples.

Le présent travail s'attache à l'étude de la sélectivité du chômage à l'entrée et à la sortie. Dans un premier temps, les auteurs utilisent les données rétrospectives sur la durée du chômage, tirées de l'Enquête sur la Population Active du Canada, pour définir des indices caractéristiques de certaines catégories de la population sur le marché du travail. Dans un deuxième temps, ils ont recours à des statistiques de flux bruts (obtenues par observation suivie d'un mois à l'autre) qui offrent une mesure directe des entrées et des sorties du chômage, ainsi que l'indication de l'origine et de la destination (Occupés ou Inactifs) des chômeurs. L'exploitation de données provisoires de ce type pour l'année 1978 au Canada, montre en particulier l'importance des flux entre la catégorie des « Inactifs » et celle des « Chômeurs » et soulève le problême de l'adéquation de la définition officielle du chômage, en particulier lorsqu'elle s'applique aux femmes.

This article proposes a scheme for scheduling real-time video packets through different paths in a QoS negotiation system, where active users have specific amounts of bandwidth negotiated with the network by each available interface. The considered QoS negotiation system implements a time-slot division strategy, to allocate the negotiated bandwidth to users. We claim that an efficient scheduling strategy is essential to exploit the features of mobile computers equipped with multiple wireless interfaces, which can be used simultaneously for transmission of data belonging to a single application, while minimizing the reordering delay at the receiver side due to transmission of data via multiple-paths with varying characteristics. A new scheduling mechanism is developed by taking into consideration such QoS systems. The effectiveness of the scheme is verified and compared with the most popular scheduling schemes through extensive simulations. The results demonstrate that our algorithm outperforms the former scheduling algorithms effectively.

What is the connection between civic autonomy and political participation? This paper assesses three answers to this question: the left Tocquevillian argument suggesting that civic autonomy encourages political participation, the right Tocquevillian argument suggesting that civic autonomy discourages political participation, and the neo-Marxist synthesis of these two positions developed by Gramsci. We investigate these competing arguments by analyzing the impact of two very different authoritarian regimes (Fascist Italy, and Francoist Spain) on post-authoritarian democratic participation. The Italian fascist regime eliminated civic autonomy, incorporating civic organizations into the party. The Franco regime, in contrast left a relatively autonomous "civic sphere" in tact. We find that Italian fascism tended to promote political participation by establishing a pattern of political behavior in which parties dominated civic associations. Spanish authoritarianism, with its more laissez faire orientation to civil society, left a legacy of deep political apathy. Paradoxically, from the perspective of the Tocquevillian left, the Fascist Italian regime produced a more 'participatory' liberal democracy, than the less Fascist Franco dictatorship.

The third report on activities & achievements of the Coll of Political & Social Sciences of the National Autonomous U of Mexico, in 1994, is presented by the director. The report covers activities in the director's office as well as student, technical, audiovisual, computing, library, language, & sports services. Student & faculty statistics for each of the five departments -- sociology, public administration, international relations, communication sciences, & political sciences -- as well as open enrollment, continuing education, & graduate education are reported, & special projects described. The physical plant is now adequate for the 5,800 students, 800 faculty, & 314 administrative workers, but certain areas need attention.
